21. "Graduation Day" Part 1


The gang is preparing for the Asension. Faith takes it upon herself to distract them by shooting Angel with a poisoned arrow. Everyone jumps on the band wagon to search for a cure though some get distracted. Such as Oz and Willow who finally consummate their love for each other. As well as Xander and Onya, although Onya does have some information since she witnessed an Asension hundreds of years ago. She, however, points out that when a human takes on the form of a pure demon they're huge and the only thing that stopped the last one was a volcanic eruption. She makes it clear that she's heading for the hills and offers to let Xander come with her. Alas, he can't because he's duty bound to help Buffy and see this Asension thing through even if it might mean his death.

Willow finally does discover a "cure" for the poison Angel has. The only way to stop the poison if for Angel to drink the blood of a slayer. Buffy is determined to make Faith pay for what she has done. Buffy tracks Faith down to her luxurious apartment the mayor bought for her. They have a huge fight that at one point has them both go through a window. Buffy attempts to hand-cuff Faith but Faith breaks free. Buffy who snatched the weird, enormous knife the mayor gave Faith back in "Choices" uses it to stab Faith. Momentarily surprised by what she's done Buffy stares speechlessly at Faith. Faith uses the time to climb up on the ledge of the building and let herself fall over the edge into the bed of a truck driving below. Buffy suceeded in wounding Faith but she was unable to obtain Angel's only hope of living.
