2. "The Harvest"
Buffy manages to escape Luke. She runs to help Willow and Xander. They get away safely but realize too late that Jesse is no where in sight. Then, underground we see the Master, who rose from a lake of blood in "Welcome to the Hell Mouth", Darla, and Luke. They plan to use Jesse as bait to lure Buffy down there to kill her.
Buffy knows she has to save Jesse even though it is a trap. Willow helps Giles research the Harvest thing that the mysterious guy brought up and Luke talked about as well. Buffy finds the above ground tomb and figures there must be a way underground to the vampire's lair from there. She runs into the mysterious guy who warns her about the trap. She tells him she knows but she has to save him. He isn't going to go down there with her but her does tell her his name is Angel and he wishes her good luck. Xander stumbles down after her to help her. They run into Jesse but he's already been changed into a vampire. Jesse and a group of other vampires try to close in around them. However, Buffy and Xander manage to escape up to the safety of daylight thru a manhole.
Back at the library Giles has found out that the Harvest is something that occurs once every hundred years. It is a night when a Master vampire can take power through the blood a lesser vampire consumes. The lesser vampire is called the 'Vessel'. Giles believes that there is going to be a Harvest is because the Master Vampire here tried to open up a portal for hell to come through. Unfortunately for him, there was an earthquake that caused whatever ritual he was doing to go wrong. He got himself trapped in a dimension between our world and hell, however if the 'Vessel' supplies enough power he may be able to break free from that dimension and bring hell upon the earth.
Buffy goes home to get some supplies. There she encounters her mother who got a call from Principal Flutie about cutting class. Her mother grounds her. Buffy sneaks out her bedroom window and meets Giles, Willow, and Xander at the Bronze. The vampires have already taken control of the Bronze and Luke who is acting as the Vessel has already begun feeding. Giles, Willow, and Xander break in and start getting people out. Just as Luke is about to take a bite out of Cordelia and set the Master free, Buffy drops in. She fights Luke and slays him. Xander inadvertantly slays Jesse and the rest of the vamps run away. An astonished Angel stands outside watching the vampires retreat from the Bronze.
Back at school no one wants to remember what really happened at the Bronze. The general public believes that it was rival gangs that caused the disturbance. The only people who let themselves know the truth are Buffy, Giles, Willow, and Xander. Buffy is happy to have two new friends and jokingly starts to talk about trying to get kicked out of school. Giles walks away muttering under his breath, "The earth is doomed."
