At an emergency meeting of the United Nation's, all the world's leaders were at a loss as to what to do. In their fear and despair, they began blaming one another. What were they to do? There was no hope.
Suddenly, an old man appeared. He asked to address the UN officials. Perhaps, due to the overwhelming feeling of imminent doom, or for another, unexplainable reason, they allowed the old man to speak.
And what he told them was this:
As the Third Reich was beginning to crumble, Adolph Hitler began to explore other avenues of warfare. Mind Control, zombie shock troops, flying saucers......all were tried. But, Hitler's greatest plan was the construction of a gigantic robot warrior, a being so savage, immense and unstoppable, that no other nation's weapons would be capable of halting it. To this end, Hitler kidnapped and forced Germany's two greatest scientists to work on such a creature: Dr. Frankenstein, and Rottwang the Inventor.
The creature they produced was unlike anything man had ever seen before. An unstoppable engine of destruction, the creature would be loyal to the very first thing it saw upon it's activation. Adolph Hitler himself was to be the first thing the Monster saw.
But Dr. Frankenstein and Rottwang the Inventor knew that this must never come about. They secretly hated Hitler and his regime. At first, they refused to produce such an abomination. However, the scientists' families were brought in, and under threat of their loved one's deaths, did what the tyrant asked.
But Frankenstein and Rottwang, knowing that Germany's defeat was certain, stalled the project for as long as they could. When Hitler sensed Germany's defeat was near, he demanded the Monster be activated within three days.
Dr. Frankenstein managed to construct a small radio transmitter under the noses of his captors and, contacting the Allied Forces, arranged for a bombing raid on the mountain fortress the beast was being constructed in.
The air strike came off as planned, burying the gigantic monster robot under tons of rock. Dr. Frankenstein died, with tears of joy in his eyes. Rottwang alone managed to escape.
Only this Monster, Dr. Frankenstein's Monster, possessed the shear brute force and savage killer instinct needed to defeat the Martian Vampires, the old man insisted. "And how do YOU know all this?" they asked him. "Because I am Rottwang the Inventor." he told them.
At first, they did not believe him. They thought him to be a crack pot. A crazy old man wanting attention. But he was able to produce a certain amount of evidence: Blueprints, old journals, even photographs. One of the photographs was of Dr. Frankenstein, Rottwang and Adolph Hitler standing next to what appeared to be a gigantic steel arm.
The world's greatest scientists and thinkers poured over this evidence for days. They even went to where Rottwang told them the location of the mountain fortress had been. Finally, they concluded that there was indeed SOMETHING buried under all that rubble. Something huge. Gigantic. But it couldn't possibly be what the old man claimed.
Could it?
An emergency session of the United Nations was held. They argued: Was this possibly worth a try? If there WAS something under all that rock, could it be salvaged? Could it actually do what the old man claimed? And what of the moral implications? This thing was created at the bequest of none other then Adolph Hitler......the greatest tyrant and mass murderer the world had ever known. How could they ever possibly consider resurrecting it?
"Because you must! Because it would only be fitting......to have their own evil turned against them!" Rottwang argued. "Because it would be poetic justice!"
They asked him what he meant by that. So, he told them. He told them, but they did not believe him.
He told them that at the very end, the elite of Hitler's Reich had escaped in the flying saucers that Germany's other, lesser scientists had constructed. And now they were back. These Martian Vampires were actually the decendants of Hitler's SS.
They did not believe him. Not until days later, when their intelligence reports told them where the Space Vampires had set up their base of operations:
Berlin, Germany.
And then, they believed him.
And so, the nations of the Earth undertook the task of unearthing the monsterocity. But they had to be quick about it, as the location of the thing was too close to where the Space Nazi's base was.
Meanwhile, the Space Nazi's continued their conquest of the Earth. It was learned that all healthy humans were being herded into what could only be termed "blood farms." These Space Nazi's were, indeed, Vampires.
All humans, that is, except for those of Germanic descent and those of Jewish descent. Those of Germanic descent were used as breeding stock. Those of Jewish descent were tortured and killed. The Vampire Nazi's, it seemed, would not drink THEIR blood.
One person, and one only, was able to escape the Death Camps that were holding the Jewish people. A young boy, David Moskovitz, age 9. With help from some of his fellow prisoners, he was able to escape into the mountains.
Meanwhile, the excavation of the Frankenstein Monster continued. There was only one way to get beneath all that rock quickly enough, and that was with explosives. This also had the unfortunate side effect of attracting the attention of the Space Nazi's.
It also attracted the curiousity of David. Cautiously, he approached the area. Hiding behind a huge boulder, he watched the proceedings with great interest.
Finally, the Monster was unearthed, as the Space Vampires began to close in. Frantically, the Earth scientists, led by Rottwang the Inventor, struggled to activate the Frankenstein Monster. Rottwang knew, that the monster could only be activated by speaking a secret phrase into the Monster's right ear.
But it was too late! The Space Nazi's had discovered the operation, and began to strafe the area. The assault caused a landslide, partially burying the Frankenstein Monster and sending the scientists scurrying for cover. It was in this race to find shelter that they discovered little David.
Upon seeing David, Rottwang had an inspiration! Perhaps, David, so small and so thin from starvation, could squeeze through the narrow crack that was too small for any of the others to fit through! The only passage that led into the cavern that housed Frankenstein!
Telling him of his plan, David agreed. Rottwang felt ashamed to ask such a young child to undertake something so dangerous as this, but there was no other way. And little David was a brave child! He agreed to do what Rottwang asked of him.
And so, armed with the special activation code and the knowledge of how to use it, young David began to squeeze himself down the crack that led into the dark cavern. Although he cut and scraped himself many times on the jagged rocks, he did not turn back and he did not cry. He had no tears left.
Finally, David made it into the cavern. It was dark, but he had his flashlight, given to him by Rottwang. Outside, he could hear the sound of the explosions as the Space Nazi's second round of bombings commenced. There was a low rumbling sound as another landslide, brought about by the strafing, sealed the crack shut. David was now trapped inside the mountain!
David pushed all thoughts of this out of his mind, and continued on his task. When he saw the gargantuan form of the Frankenstein Monster for the first time, he felt an odd mixture of fear and awe. Gingerly, he approached the Monster's right ear, and whispered the special words:
Outside the cavern, all seemed lost. Rottwang thought of the brave little boy that he now felt sure he had sent to his death, and tears filled his eyes.
Suddenly, there was a rumbling sound. The sound grew louder and louder until, without warning, the entire mountain exploded outward with a resounding thunderclap. As the dust cleared, an unbelievably gigantic figure could be discerned.........
It was the FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER!!!!!!
Frankenstein brought his closed fist up close to his eyes, and slowly opened his fingers. He gazed down at the tiny, trembling figure he now held in the palm of his hand, and, in a deep gutteral growl that sounded like the grating of metal, spoke these words:
David looked up and into the eyes of Frankenstein. He did not know it, but as the first thing Frankenstein saw upon his awakening, he was now the giant's Master. Frankenstein looked down upon David with love. He would follow the boy to the ends of the Earth, obey his every command, fearlessly and tirelessly protect him from anything that would do the boy harm.
And then, the flying saucers of the horrific Vampire Space Nazis' returned for another round of straffing. The sound shocked little David so that he forgot about Frankenstein. David looked up at the returning saucers in horror. A fact that was not lost on Frankenstein. He followed David's gaze and saw the approaching saucers. He saw the terror it inspired in little David, and felt the tiny boy tremble in his hand. The giant's eyes narrowed into slits as the saucers drew nearer. As he was programmed to do, he sought out an identifying mark with which to store in his primitive memory banks. He found it:
On the underside of the saucers were Swastikas.
Frankenstein would now hate anything and everything that bore this mark. He would hate it with an unmatched loathing, now and forever.
And so it came to pass, that the gargantuan Frankenstein, led by a little boy, became Earth's greatest defender. The Space Nazi's tried everything they could to stop Frankenstein's onslaught. Their flying saucers, their lazer cannons, even their giant mechanical robots piloted by their zombie shock troops could not stop, or even slow Frankenstein down.
Next, they tried their Bio-Mecha Monsters: Terrifying half machine/half organic abominations created by their Nazi scientists. They unleashed hordes and hordes of them against Frankenstein, to no avail. Frankenstein literally slaughtered them with impunity.
They radio'd back to their home planet, Mars, and had the incredible two-headed Martian dinosaur, GaraSharck, sent to Earth. Although GaraSharck put up a better fight then all the Bio-Mecha Monsters put together, even he was no match for Frankenstein.
And through it all, David was there, standing bravely with his monsterous protector. Indeed, no matter what the Space Nazi's sent against them, with Frankenstein by his side, little David felt not the slightest bit of fear. And Frankenstein loved little David dearly.
Finally, sensing defeat, the Space Nazi's summoned their greatest weapon: DEVILSHRIKE, the COSMIC GIANT! DevilShrike arrived on Earth on a flaming comet, and proceeded to emit a toxic vapor that dissolved everything it touched. In a battle that raged across the whole of Europe, Frankenstein fought DevilShrike to a standstill, finally defeating DevilShrike by dragging him down into an active volcano, and burying him in the Earth's mantle.
Fearing his giant friend to be lost to him forever, little David knelt at the foot of the volcano, crying bitter tears. Hearing the sound of his beloved David's weeping, and fearing him to be in some kind of danger, Frankenstein freed himself, breaking through the Earth's crust to reach David. Reunited, the two friends rejoiced. And together, sought out and destroyed the last of the Vampire Nazi's from Space.
There was then a celebration, the likes of which the world had never seen, broadcast by satellite to every home in every nation on the Earth. There were three very special guests of honor at this celebration:
Rottwang, the Inventor.........
Brave Little David Moskovitz............
And........
