he Aranea settled a stretch of river through what later became known as the Riven Plains eons prior to the creation of the Moradins Basin. This settlement is one of the few civilizations to still be in existance since that time. The Web Empire has become a decadent and corrupt entity sprawled along the forested Rhine-ko River.

Due to the presence of the rakasta tribes with in the Riven Plains, few-if any-aranea have been seen in centuries. Many sages believe them to be extinct.

What little that is known about their culture indicates they worship the demon-goddess Lolth in her incarnation as the Queen of Spiders. It is known that under her guidance, the Web Empire produced many items of fell magic, no few of which have fallen into drow and fainal hands. It is even rumored that some drow revere the aranea as the children of Lolth herself.

The rakasta tribesman have long told stories of sky-spiders, flying vessels possessed by the aranea. However, none have been seen since before humans first walked the face of Mysaniti.
