The Beauty of Venice

Venice, beautiful canals, bridges and art. Who could not be taken with Venice?

The Bridge of Sighs.(top bridge)The legend of the bridge has it that prisoners crossing the bridge from the Doge's Palace to the neighbouring prison, would look out the windows and sigh at the beauty of Venice. Neat trick. I crossed the bridge and I couldn't see anything out of those windows. Oh well. It sounds nice.

St. Mark's Basilica is a very impressive church set beside the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Square. The Square is best experienced early in the morning when it is quiet! The Doge's Palace, once the seat of power in Venice, is now a large museum. Also in the Square you'll find the Bell Tower, (pictured with the Doge's Palace) where you can take the elevator ride to the top for some great views of the city.

(And if you're wondering, it doesn't smell bad!)

Of course, Venice is known for its canals, and the romantic gondola rides that you can take along them! If you're going, don't miss a trip to any of the islands in the lagoon. Most popular are Murano (known for its glassblowing) and Burano (known for its lace).

All of the pictures on this page were all taken and/or owned by me. If you'd like to use any of them, please e-mail me and ask. I'm a pretty nice person and I'll more than likely let you use them!
