Y'know, dear Mortals, much time hath elaps'd since first I came to Bonnie Scotland --- to settle meself here, within the innersanctums of Castle Talisker. On occasion, these Dark Chambers have spent several segments waxing poetic about the fairer sex (I shan't share the balance of mine observations with thee hither; this is, after all, a family website!), but before I came hither, I had not the chance to be an actual Courtier in a Ruling Monarch's service!
Well, before long, Her Majesty, Margaret, Queen of Scotland and the Isles, certainly had something to say about that (well, this old Mage is, in a sense, Celtic-born in nature)! As her Court Wizard, one of my tasks is to grant her the ability to utilize the space-time continuum as she sees fit. Also, I'm responsible for giving Her Majesty some humble words of advice, singing strange and exotic songs (I am still, after all, a Bard, you know!), telling heroic tales --- and, last but not least, dealing with that age-old annoyance.....babysitting!
But you're here to learn Her Majesty's real story.... which is to say, how I wound up in her service. Well, it all began around the early spring or late summer in what you Mortals would perceive to be the Year of Our Lord 1529 --- some four years before Her Scottish Majesty would begin her tradition of making the customary pilgrimage to the village of Scarborough, where, as per the usual rituals, the Royal Courts of Scotland and England join together, ostensibly to party, decide Britain's destiny, and engage in acts of Chivalry, Ribaldry, and related Renaissance-era silly stuff.
After twenty years of journeying through various dimensions, I had felt that the time had come to take a well-deserved respite or two. To that end, I decided to venture out into the universe called Scotland --- specifically, that small, unique cluster of land known as the Isle of Skye. What I had hoped to do there was simply find a spot where I could rest, meet a few of the local populace, share one or two tales of my most recent journeys in time --- as you know, Mortals, it matters not to a Mage such as myself about whether or not one can be branded a heretic, or some such like that! --- and then be on me merry way. What I did not know, however, was that I was to become involved in a chain of events that would ultimately bring me into contact with no less an individual than Her Majesty, Margaret, Queen of Scotland and the Isles.... and, indeed, ultimately cause Milady to declare me Duke of the Region of Talisker, and (by virtue of extension) Her Majesty's Court Wizard! Huzzah!
Now, as this page is pretty much under reconstruction, 'twill be a while before I can properly spill the beans regarding the complete chronicle which will form the gist of these little adventures; so, keep watching this space for the remainder of my audiences with Her Majesty of Scotland and the Isles!
