ROBERT THE BRUCE, King of all Scotland: Greetings, Scotsfolk of the 21st Century! I am Robert the Bruce, King of all Scotland!
BERNARD de LINTON, Abbot of Arbroath: And I am Bernard de Linton, Abbot of the Region of Arbroath.
BRUCE: Together, we are the reason for these annual celebrations of Tartan Day in America. On the 6th of April, in the Year of Our Lord Thirteen Hundred and Twenty, my Courtiers and I came to the Catherdral of Arbroath to receive from Abbot Bernard a text he had written to His Holiness the Pope, in which he explained the true accounts of the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, and calling upon the Church to use the Papal influence to forge a lasting Peace. We, the Royal Court, had arrived to sign the latter, and affix unto it Our illustrious Royal Seal of Scotland.
BERNARD: And indeed, had I not written that Declaration, Scotland's subsequent independence would not have come to pass. But that's not why His Majesty and I address you modern-day Mortals. We are here at Uncle Fergus' Bagpipers' Paradise! to remind all our subjects throughout the world, wherever they may be, to take stock in, and remember, their special heritage as descendants of those who affixed their signatures to the Declaration of Arbroath!
BRUCE: We hope, too, that those for whom Scotland means everything will join us in celebrating the meaning of Scotland: her land, her resources, her culture, her people.
BERNARD: And we dare not forget her faiths as well --- especially those who worship Our Lord through such traditional ceremonies as the Kirkin' o' the Tartans and the Tartan Blessing Ceremonies.
BRUCE: Aye! On a personal note, Lord Linton, what would ye be sayin' about the 21st Century?
BERNARD: There is a golden future there, in that wondrous era to come. Sadly, it is also a time when the scourge of war remains unchecked in nations hitherto unknown and yet undiscovered.
BRUCE: Indeed! And that is another reason for our presenting this Message of Hope for all our friends within and beyond Scotland --- that in the days to come, Scotsmen and Scotswomen everywhere can share the causes of Honour and Justice with all their brethren in the Human Family.
BERNARD: And that, in the end, is our wish for you all: Peace on the Earth; and Truth and Wonder within your Heart. Wha's like us, Your Majesty?
BRUCE: None, and them that are are all a dead!
BERNARD: Aye!
BOTH: Long live Scotland!
