Forever Friends
by: Discorde

The group quietly crept out of the house so, that Anna's parents wouldn't hear them. If they made the slightest noise as they made their way out of the house then everything would be ruined and they would be stuck inside playing some other stupid game.

When they made it outside the clouds revealed a full moon everyone stared at it in 'AW', the air was very damp, strong winds were carrying the cold from the north, the group was freezing but after all they couldn't expect it to be hot and sunny on the last night of October. Once they were done complaining about the weather they all found their own hiding place and stayed there, waiting to be found or to scare the ghost.

The game was being played behind Anna's yard, it was a large wooded area, water was all over and the area was also filled with small hills that were ideal for snow mobile riding in the winter.

Before actually starting the game Francine had been unanimously chosen as the 'ghost', more like she volunteered to be the 'ghost'. The group waited for at least half an hour in their separate hiding places before they got tired and realized that no one was coming. Lindsey, who was tired of waiting came, out of her hiding place and yelled out to the others so that they would come out of their hiding places too, one at a time they came out of the trees and from the hills and met where Francine was supposed to have counted, but they couldn't find her anywhere.

Finally they gave up the search thinking that she was probably playing some lame joke on them and that she was sitting cosily inside and just waiting for them to come in so that she could laugh at them.

However when they got inside they couldn't find her there either, so they decided to split up and search for her. Mara and Anna searched the basement, Cat and Jane were checking the gazebo, swimming pool area and garage, Nancy and Heather checked the bathrooms and closets while Lindsey and Emma checked the main floor and sunroom.

"You think this is just some stupid joke that Francine's playing?" Mara asked as she entered the basements main room.

"I don't know, with her you can never tell. Anyway, I'm assuming you haven't found her?" Anna replied as she looked over at her best friend.

"Nope as far as I can tell the basements empty."

"Fine then lets go back up to meet with the others."

"Of all the places we could of had to search why did they have to send us outside" Cat complained as she made her way through the wet grass to get to the garage.

"Oh, come on Cat. It's not that bad really, and besides it's not like there is anything to worry about. I bet Francine just got 'killed' by the 'murderer' and she's just taking it one step too far. Or even better, she's the 'murderer' and is doing this on purpose to get us all separated so she can kill us one by one." Jane replied, laughing.

"Actually, promise you won't tell Anna and Mara that I told you?" Cat said nervously.

"Sure. Told me what?" Jane asked, stopping in her tracks to listen to what Cat had to say.

"I'm actually the murderer, and I can tell you right now that I haven't 'killed' her. I didn't really know how I was supposed to do this so that's why nobody's dead yet."

"Still, I wouldn't put anything past her. I bet one of the others will find her."

"Why are we even checking the living room?" Nancy asked kicking a pillow across the floor we were all just here.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. Anyway, the sunroom's empty not that there's anywhere to hide in there either." Heather replied.

"I guess we'll just have to wait for the others then." Nancy sighed.

*****

"You know I just thought of something." Lindsey said as she looked over at Emma.

"What?" she asked, opening yet another closet.

"Well, we've checked both bathrooms, and linen closets as well as the closet on the main floor right."

"Yeah."

"While Mara and Anna got the basement, Cat and Jane got outside, even though there's no way Francine could have gotten past us to go outside, then Heather and Nancy get the main floor and sunroom."

"Yeah, so? Your point being?"

"Then who's walking around upstairs?" Lindsey said as she looked up at the ceiling then at Emma.

"Oh would you stop trying to freak me out, it's probably just Anna's parents. Now come on let's go meet the other."

"I had you going there for a minute though didn't I?" Lindsey laughed.

"Whatever." Emma grumbled.

After having searched the places they were assigned the group met in the living room they were all one by one taking a seat on the couch when they heard someone scream coming from the sunroom, the group looked at one another before they took off, they found Francine hanging from one of the ceilings support beams. Her mouth was open wide in fear and her eyes were sticking out. The site was absolutely disgusting.

The house was silent no one dared to move as one thought made it's way into each of their minds, there was no way she could have gotten there on her own, someone had to have put her there. She wouldn't have such a look of fear on her face if she wanted to die and she wouldn't have screamed either. The worst thing was the person who did it was probably still in the house. The thought of a person being in the house looking, listening and following every move that they made them all freeze in fear, no one spoke for a long time.

When Anna, Mara, Emma, Cat, Nancy, Jade, Heather and Lindsey finally awoke from their trance they all rushed for the door only to find it covered with blood and bolted shut. No one could figure out how this was possible, for one Cat and Jade had just come back from outside and two, the sunroom was just a few steps from the front door, if anyone had bolted the door shut and covered it with blood they would have noticed the person doing so. But they hadn't seen anybody or heard a single noise.

Mara being the eldest in the group and the one who was taking the situation the best took matters in her own hands " O.K. everyone I want you to listen and listen good, I want you to split up in groups of 2 we need to search this entire house for an escape route or we might as well be dead, Anna I want you to go wake up your parents and tell them what happened then come back here I'll be waiting for you." Everyone immediately did what Mara told them to, leaving her all alone in the kitchen.

Anna rushed out of the kitchen and headed up the stairs taking them two at a time, once she was at the top of the staircase she opened the door to her parents room. Inside she found her parents in the same state that Francine was in, hanging from the ceiling just above their bed. She knew that they had been killed too, there was no way they could have hanged themselves since there feet could touch the bed. The person that had killed Francine had killed her parents and had hanged them just for the fun of it. Anna ran out of their room and headed for her brothers room. As she entered her brothers room could smell the stench of blood, she immediately closed the door, not wanting to see the horrors that were awaiting her there, and ran down the stairs to find Mara.

When she arrived in the kitchen, were she was supposed to meet Mara, there was no one around, and that's when she 'cracked', she couldn't take the pressure anymore. One of her friends had died, her parents were both dead and the same fate had probably been reserved for her brother as well.

When the others heard Anna crying they turned around intent on going to see what was wrong, but on their way they heard a scream, at that moment they all started to run towards where the crying and the scream had come from. When they got to the kitchen it was empty.

Cat, Jane, Lindsey and Nancy now feared for their own lives now that 4 more were missing. The remainder of the group grew even more anxious about finding an exit from this hell.
