Gillian of the Earth

by Marita

She was red
The sand so yellow
The city was red and
She a muse sick from video

I sat across from her
Her eyes so blue
like the sky we fell from
and the sea we nearly drowned into

When we swam ashore
She cried a storm
Her hair still red
but her tears dripped black

We didn't see the leaves coming

and though the waves were forgiving,
she grew into a tree

She was green
