Wife of Anakin Skywalker and mother of the twins, Luke and Leia.
Though the daughter of relatively humble parents Amidala was early identified as a promising
child and educated for royal rank. Princess of Theed at twelve she was elected Queen of the Naboo
two years later. Almost immediately she was confronted with a crisis in the form of the Trade
Federation's boycott.
When her planet was invaded Queen Amidala assumed the identity of one of her handmaidens
'Padme Naberrie' while her decoy, Sabe posed as the Queen. Rescued from the Federation's
clutches by Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi Amidala decided accompany them to
Courescant and make a personal appeal to the Republic Senate.
Damaged while running the Neimoidian blockade the Royal Transport was forced to land for
repairs on Tatooine where Amidala met her future husband, Anakin Skywalker, then a nine year old slave.
After Anakin turned to the Dark Side, becoming Darth Vader, Amidala and Obi-Wan Kenobi hid
their children from him. Amidala had to send her son away almost at birth but was allowed to keep
her daughter, the two of them taking refuge with Bail Organa on Alderaan. The cause and circumstances
of Amidala's death a few years later are currently unknown.
Alternate Universe 2:
After an Imperial assassination attempt kills Sabe and Yani as well as Obi-Wan's apprentice
Amidala realizes there is no safety for her and her newborn twins on Naboo. With Anakin and Obi-Wan
she decides to send their son, Luke, with Obi-Wan to his grandmother on Tatooine and their
daughter, Leia, with Sache, to Bail Organa on Alderaan.
The people of Naboo, and the Emperor are allowed to believe it was the Queen not her decoy who was
slain in the attack. Amidala assumes her alternate Padme Naberrie identity permanently.
