Life Quest
Secretly you creep in, no noise do you make
Yet the treasure within, is but yours for to take
I am waiting for you, cup filled in my hand
Gentle welcoming mists in this faerie land
Who am I? You ask, your lips make no sound
I am all that you see. Do you dare look around?
The child, the maiden, enchantress or crone
3 sisters they called me, squash bean and corn
The cold sands of earth, raped bringing forth fruit
The power and strength, the wisdom of truth
I fed you, I held you, safe at my breast
Sweet lullabies I sang, oh the gentle caress
Sweeping soft curls, as you took hesitant steps
So proud when you ran, tears that you wept
I was there as you played, butterflies in the grass
As you hunted, explored, streams clear as glass
When the sun was your fire, bright in your heart
I was the candle, when nights were so dark
When the first kiss lay sweet on your quivering lips
When love’s chains held fast, mouth, eyes, finger tips
The ecstasy, the passion, the joys of this life
The pain and the sorrow that cut deep as a knife
Who am I? A riddle, one you must quest
The answer’s within, you have but one guess
But a lifetime to seek over forest and sea
Till life brings you back, full circle, to me
