An introduction to Dragonlord©

The truth

A prophecy told by a sage of the Dark Circle spoke of a hero that would rise from the flames of chaos. This prophecy was made before the time of the Banishment, so you probably wouldn't even find it if you looked for years in the great library of Pride, but it was made. It's was about five hundred years after that an infant was taken away from his family and friends. The child's name was Myst.

In his early childhood, Myst found he had some magical powers. Now in his twenties, he became the highest ranking human in the dark forces. He was slowly learning more and more about his rare gift. Using his mind he could form lifelike illusions and could create fire with a flick of his wrist.

There was something even greater then that. As a young mage he had learned that he could control the minds of some dragons, mainly the weak ones, by opening his mind and searching through theirs. Very few other people could do that. Myst knew of three, apart from himself. All three of the people were dark rulers. One was the high lord himself, and the other two were right under him rankwise.

Myst always thought he was born a dark lord, not knowing anything of his past, but he never knew for sure. One day he decided to find out who he was. Stepping out of the inn where he was staying, he started to walk across the dusty path towards the high lord's castle.

"Lord Myst!" shouted a guard.

"Yes?", replied Myst, turning to see a guard sitting in the front of a wagon pulled by a horse. In the back of the wagon there seemed to be a cage. Probably being used for transporting prisoners around.

"What is it?", he inquired. "We have a new prisoner. Where would you like me to take him?".

It seemed that the guards would ask the stupidest questions to any of the lords, just in case the lord wanted to promote him.

"The prison perhaps?", answered Myst, rolling his eyes at the mans stupidity.

"Very good sir", he replied with a salute.

As the wagon rolled by, Myst looked in the back. There was a massive man sitting in the middle of the cage. He appeared fairly calm, even though his weapons were off to the side out of reach.

Myst kept walking. After walking about one hundred yards he was at the front of the dark lords' castle. He entered and walked up a long flight of stairs. After finally reaching the top of the highest tower, he knocked on the Dark Lord's door. Noone answered and for some reason the door was unlocked, allowing Myst to just walk in. He decided he should wait for the Dark Lord to show up so he grabbed a seat.

After waiting for about half an hour, Myst decided to look around. Walking across the room, he opened up the filing cabinet and checked for his name. Sure enough there was a file on him. He sat down on a chair and started to read it, when he heard footsteps outside the door. He quickly close the cabinet, slipped the file into a pocket of his cloak and sat down just as the Dark Lord walked in.

"What are you doing in here Myst?", asked the Lord angrily as he sat in his seat. "Umm...I...um...I just came to tell you that we have another prisoner my lord," replied Myst, "but know that I've done that I might as well leave."

"Ok...", said the Lord as Myst ran out the room. That kid's starting to talk like those idiot guards of ours, the Lord thought to himself.

Back in the inn, Myst opened the file. He soon learned the truth about his past. Outraged by the fact that he had been taken away from his family, he decided to sneak away and go meet his them.

It is here are story begins.
