Scorpio Torpedo Boat

Having a need for a light attack craft that can be launched from both shore and from a frigate, C-K Engineering designed and built the Scorpio Torpedo Boat. Using rechargable electric power cells, the Scorpio's three water jet thrusters provide immense power and manueverability. Its hull design and light weight make it possible for only the very rear of the craft to actually be in the water when it is travelling at half-speed or better. Thanks to these two factors, it is fully capable of performing manuevers equal to that of a Jet Ski. While it is possible to buy a Scorpio on the open market, their need for a support vessel or nearby base has seen very few sales to private users.

Notes:
[1] Destroying the torpedo launcher cover leaves the two torpedoes inside open to attack. 50 MD to either torpedo will cause it to detonate for full damage, also igniting the second torpedo (if not already launched) for full damage. This life-ending event can be prevented by the pilot launching both torpedoes as soon as combat starts.
[2] The cockpit cover protects the pilot from incoming fire from the rear, sides, or above. Fire coming from ahead is not protected against, and must be dodged.
[3] Depleting the main body of the Scorpio will cause it to sink. The pilot must swim for safety.
Speed:
On Water: Maximum speed of 80 knots (90 mph / 135 kph), sustainable indefinitely.
Range: Electric Engines: 300 miles at maximum speed before recharging is required (Double range if traveling at 15 knots or less).
Statistical Data:
Draft: 1.5 feet (0.6 meters). Note: This means the Scorpio can operate in water as shallow as 1.5 feet deep.
Height: 5 feet, 6 inches (1.6 meters).
Width: 5 feet (1.6 meters).
Length: 15 feet (4.5 meters).
Displacement: 550 lbs.
Cargo: Has two small lockers for dry clothes, handheld weapons, or extra e-clips.
Power System: Electric power with rechargable power cells.
Availability: Good on the East Coast, rare elsewhere.
Market Price: 175,000 credits.
Weapon Systems:
1. Grenade Launchers (6): All six grenade launchers are located directly in front of the pilot near the nose of the craft. While they can fire any grenade round, standard for these craft is armor piercing.
Maximum Effective Range: 3,000 feet (914.4 m).
Mega Damage: 1D4x10 MD each. 2D4x10 MD for a 2 grenade volley. 3D6x10 MD for a 6 grenade volley.
Rate of Fire: Equal to combined hand to hand attacks of pilot. Can fire single rounds, or volleys of 2 or 6.
Payload: 300 grenades total (50 grenades for each launcher).
2. Medium Torpedoes (2): There are two medium torpedoes mounted in the nose of the Scorpio. They can be fired one at a time, or both at the same time.
Maximum Effective Range: 10 miles.
Mega Damage: 3D6x10 MD (AP).
Rate of Fire: The launcher can fire one or both torpedoes in one melee round.
Payload: Two Medium Torpedoes.
3. Smoke Dispensers (2): Mounted on either side of the six grenade launchers.
Maximum Effective Range: 1,200 feet (365 m).
Effect: Creates a cloud of smoke 40 ft (12 m) in diameter.
Rate of Fire: Two per melee.
Payload: Carries 12 smoke grenades per launcher.
4. Sensors: All standard Rifts Robot vehicle-sensors are carried on the Scorpio torpedo boat. These sensors are mounted inside the hull and virtually impossible to destroy without sinking the craft, and have roughly half the ranges and capabilities as standard Robot sensors.
Special Notes:
The Scorpio is famous for it's extreme maneuverability for a watercraft.
Autododge against attacks coming from the front. +5 to dodge, and a +30% bonus to ALL piloting rolls for the Scorpio, as the craft is capable of maneuvers that are possible on a Jet Ski.
