Peppermint Crunch's Peppermint Crunch!

3 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp. blue food coloring
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. peppermint oil (depending on your tastes)

In a large, heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.  Bring to 300oF on medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat and stir in flavoring, keeping the mixture away from your face (odor is rather strong).  Pour onto oiled cookie sheet.  Cool and break into pieces with a knife handle or a very sharp unicorn.  Store in an airtight container.

Enjoy!

Little Bushwoolie Cakes

2 sticks butter (don't skimp, now! There is no fat in Ponyland)
1 cup white sugar
1 8-oz. package chopped dates
1 cup finely chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups Rice Krispies (fakies work fine)
Powdered sugar

Combine butter, sugar, and dates; cook on low heat until the mixture comes to a boil.  Remove from heat, let it become cool enough to handle, and add pecans, vanilla, and Rice Krispies.  Mix well and shape into 1-inch balls.  Roll balls in powdered sugar and store them in an airtight container.  Lick the leftover powdered sugar off of your hands (a crucial step to get the full effect, because this is what the Bushwoolies do).

Better than chocolate!  I promise!!
