Chapter 9: Golden Marbles

The little blue-haired boy walked down the streets of Atlantis. The city was full of life, after all this was one of the most important trading points for mercenaries and the rebels. People were talking , shouting around, fishers were walking to the bay, boats were leaving and entering the port and here and there were travelers buying supplies for their journeys. The boy giggled amused. This was the perfect place...

Kaana, priestess and general of the Hellmaster, stood on a hill of Atlantis as the wind played with her long black hair that reached to the ground. Hellmaster had sent her here to have some fun as he had called it. Well, the least she could do, now that she was here, was to please her master.

In the meantime the little boy sat near a fountain holding a small brown bag in his hand. He looked at the horizon, soon the fun would start....

Kaana closed her eyes and smelled the fresh sea air. she stood like that for a few minutes before staring to chant one of her favorite spell.... the Ra-tilt. She had by now learned to control it so far that she could let it attack in a place she could see with either her eyes or visualize in her mind....

The boy had opened his small bag as a man knocked him from behind to the ground as he had run by. The bag fell from the boy's hand landing on the ground. Hundred of golden marbles rolled out of the bag between the people's feet's. The boy looked shocked for a moment after his precious treasure.

"I'm sorry kid, are you okay." asked the man kneeling next to the boy.

The boy looked with big hurt, almost tear-filled eyes at the man: "My... My marbles..." said the boy reaching for his almost empty bag now. He turned it around and let the last three of them fall in his hand.

"I'll help you recollect them." said the man standing up and telling two women to help him pick the golden marbles up.

The boy closed his eyes and cleaned his from tears wet cheeks with the sleeve of his shirt.

...boots... houses... animals... humans... useless lives... she smiled to herself, now that she had visualized the place she could attack wherever she wanted to. Maybe she should start with the bay...

The little boy twitched as he heard an explosion coming from the bay. Finally!!... People came running from the bay and the port as another explosion was heard. This time the boy saw a bright blue light over the houses. He sweatdroped, he had expected something a little more espectacular. He shrugged, it didn't matter now, after all he got what he wanted.

He watched the people running past him here and there they smashed one of his marbles as the stepped on it. He smiled amused, as he saw the people's lifeless bodies fall to the ground.

Kaana stopped her attack for a moment. What was he doing down there? She hadn't even noticed his presence until now...

The man that had dumped the boy to the ground came running to him.

"Kid we have to get out of here, the city is being attacked." he said extending his hand for the boy to reach.

The boy looked down.

"Come on, or are your marbles more important then your life?" another explosion, this time it was nearer, "We have no time, come on!" urged the man.

Suddenly the boy looked up, a cheerful smile on his face, "You've helped me a great deal. I couldn't have done it better. I shall thank you for your help."

The man looked questioning for a moment at the boy.

"I will spare you from this." with his hand the boy motioned their surroundings, "Look well for the people you know here, ‘cause it will be the last time you will see them." he smiled even brighter, "Be thankful," the boy's features became from a moment to another malicious, causing the man to jerk back, "'cause this is the first and last time that I will let you enjoy your life a little longer."

The man looked shocked at the boy as he felt his body vanish into millions of pieces and be teleported far outside the city, where he could still hear the screaming and see his hometown be destroyed to the ground.

The boy's laugh was like an echo in his mind that he would never be able to forget.
