Pippins dagger

Here I Have collected the Quotes, which describe Pippins dagger. I will properly make an article about it later on.

“For each of the hobbits he chose a daggar, long, leaf-shaped, and keen, of marvellous workmanship, damasked with serpent-forms in red and gold. they gleamed at he drew them from there black sheaths, wrought of some strange metal, light and strong, and set with many fiery stones. whether by some virtue in these sheaths or because of the spell that lay on the mound, the blades seemed untouched by time, unrusted, sharp, glittering in the sun” From chapter 8, “Fog on the Barrow-downs” book 1

Tom Bombadil: “Old knives are long enough as swords for Hobbit-people” ... He told them that the knives were made by the people of Westernesse. They were the beaten by the Witchking. From chapter 8, “Fog on the Barrow-downs” Book 1

“... he picked out from the pile of grim weapons two knives, leaf-bladed, damasked in gold and red; and searching further he found also the sheaths, black, set with small red gems ...“ Aragorn: [The knives are] work of Westernesse, wound about with spells for the bane of Mordor. From chapter 1, “The Departure of Boromir” Book 3

“He drew his sword and looked at it, and the intertwining shapes of red and gold; and the flowing characters of Númenor glinted like fire upon the blade” and later on “...Then Pippin stabbed upwards, and the written blade of Westernesse pierced through the hide and went deep into the vitals of the troll...” From chapter 10, “The black gate opens” Book 5

The other swords from Barrow downs:

The Sword of Frodo is in battle on Weathertop, but Frodo only hits the cape of the Black Rider. The sword breaks at the Ford of Rivendell. The Witchking races his hand, and the blade breaks and fall to the earth. (”Flight to the ford” From chapter 12, book 1). Bilbo says in “The Ring goes south” (From chapter 3, bok 2) that he has kept the sword, but that he has Forgotten to make the elven smiths to reforge it. Therefore he gives Frodo his own sword “Sting”.

The Sword of Merry break, when he stab the Witchking in his knee under the battle of Pelennor Fields. (”The houses of Healing” From chapter 8, book 5)

The sword of Sam is taken from Frodo in Cirith Ungol. Sam gave it to him in the cave of Shelop. Mauth of Sauron gives it to Gandalf at the Black Gatet. Sam got it back when he wakes up in Gondor after the Ring is destroyed.
