Contrary to popular belief, Billy Corgan is actually quite a friendly guy. Why, just last week when we hanging out on the patio, sipping. . . well, that is to say, um, well, I've never, uh, actually met him, but I have it on good faith that he's a pretty cool guy. I mean, if I were the front man for a rock band, I'd be pretty cool, too, so he must be cool. At any rate, he's the mastermind behind The Smashing Pumpkins, and has, in the past, had a noted predilection towards twinkies. When questioned as to the meaning of certain songs, he's liable to reply quite truthfully and honestly, with something along the lines of these comments, regarding his song "Stumbeline":
"Well, I had this really traumatic experience when I was fifteen. I got shrunk and I had to live in a thimble, and let me tell you that was hard. The food was plentiful and all, but the attack of the rats got to be a bit much. It came out of the experiences of that time."
He won my instant admiration upon my learning that he'd produced an album for the Frogs, using the psuedonym "Johnny Goat." Now, if only their new single had been called "The Everlasting Pants" |
