Sir Blane is a deep golden-colored humanoid. He is vaguely transparent in full sunlight, with crudely fashioned facial features and bright red eyes. He is steadfast in the pursuit of his duty and meting justice, and kind and merciful to the people of Kavlin. He makes it a point to keep himself fully armored to avoid unsettling the commoners, so as a result very few people outside his order know what he truly looks like. He is still one of the people's favorite champions, but he often wonders how his popularity would fare if he revealed his true identity. He harbors a deep hatred for the members of the Order of the Serpent and still has nightmares of his torment at their hands. |
Blaine is the product of a cruel sorceror who was a member of the Order of the Serpent, a secret society of evil necromancers. Blaine was basically their twisted form of amusement, as his creator "bestowed" him with an amplified nervous system, making him extremely sensitive to pain. This also enabled him to rapidly heal himself, so he could quickly recover for his next session in the torture chamber. He was able to escape one dark night, but his mind was still fairly undeveloped so he made no note of where the Order of the Serpent's lair was located. Repulsed by the thought of cruelty to another living thing, he began trying to help anywhere he could, leaving small gifts of food on the doorstep of starving families and the like. One day he happened to come upon a caravan bearing the ruler of Kavlin, Warlord Tridon. The Warlord's caravan had been set upon by bandits, and the fight was going badly for the warlord's guards. Charging into the fray, Blane routed the bandits nearly single-handedly and earned the respect and gratitude of the Warlord. Tridon took Blane as his squire and, years later, personally knighted him Knight Errant of Kavlin. To this day Blane rides forth, his true identity known by only a few close advisors to the Warlord, serving the people of Kavlin. He remains watchful for any clue to the whereabouts or activities of the Order of the Serpent, and vows to one day bring them to justice. |
