March 2006 We've recently returned to Indonesia and so we've been able to go into an actual theatre and watch films as they were meant to be seen.
We've seen the Constant Gardener,V for Vendetta and Firewall.

Okay Back in 2001 I haven't had much time to write. We've recently relocated to South Korea and the only movies we've seen have been on video.
We rented all the Sean Connery Bonds. Emily had never seen Connery in the role that defined him as an actor and created a character that no actor has ever come close to.
We watched everything beginning with Dr No and Ending with Never Say Never. I finally got to see From Russia With Love Robert Shaw was a very convincing psycho.
In the last week we've watched two Robert Deniro films.
We've watched Deniro in 15 Minutes and Flawless. Deniro shines in most things he does. His recent forays into comedy may alarm some purists, but it's a refreshing change of pace from hard-nosed gangsters.
Quick Thoughts
Being in Asia is like ...
only being able to watch movies at 2:00am.
When you have no chance for real quality,
even passable becomes sterling.
I haven't seen that many good films lately.
Zorro was fun, but lacked depth. The follow was even less deep, or involving.
Phantoms was well-done.
Lost In Space was well-done,
but Godzilla sucked.
The Phantom was a lot of fun. I could go on,
and I will ...

I love movies
Emily and I saw Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
It's a fun movie with a few surprises.
Generally it's a likable comedy with two likable stars.
If you like Gere and Roberts you'll enjoy it.
If you don't there's always The Monster Truck Show.
Emily and I just saw Michael Douglas and Gywnnythe Paltrow in A Perfect Murder.
This is a remake of Dial 'M' for Murder. It's classy,scary fun and damn good.
There are a few good twists.
We just saw Ever After.
Ever After is a retooling of the Cinderella story,
and it's a lot of fun. Drew Barrymore is believable
as the strong-willed but put-upon stepdaughter.
Angelica Houston is by turns wicked and soothing,
but always enjoyable to watch.
Drew's leading man, Dugray Scott, next plays villain
Sean Ambrose in MI-2 and hero Logan in Xmen.
Note: Well, Dougray never did play Logan.
The role of Logan/Wolverine went to Aussie actor Hugh Jackman.
On Saturday Emily and I saw the new Will Smith movie 'Enemy Of The State'.
We really enjoyed it.
Will Smith is one of a handful of actors who can be funny, dangerous,
foolish, angry and damn entertaining all in one movie.
The always dependable Gene Hackman is on hand.
Is he there to help Will, or ...?
Instinct with Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. is why film was invented.
The motion picture as a medium of enlightenment has rarely been as well served as it is here.
Anthony Hopkins is incredible.
He is restrained.
He is terrifying.
He is wild.
He is Human.
Cuba Gooding Jr. is a joy to watch.
His skill is the careful establishment of a character and then the gradual unraveling and blossoming of that same character.
This is a study of humanity that speaks of basic realities and higher purposes.
Don't believe the critics. The new Mission Impossible is GOOD.
Is it the best movie ever made?
NO.
Does it have action, romance, excitement, chills, thrills and incredible stunts?
YES
Does it require a willing suspension of disbelieve?
Why yes, Sparky. It's a movie.
One or more critics have commented that the climactic fight was IMPOSSIBLE,
because it pushed the combatants past human endurance.
Come on, most movies push audiences past human boredom ... I'm happy for the change.
Does Woo overuse birds?
Yes. Now stop it!
Ignore the critics ... the new Mission Impossible is very good.
Is it perfect? NO
Is any movie perfect?
No.
It is entertaining, exciting and compelling ...
if you want convincing, watch the news.
On second thought ... don't.
Perfect Storm.
It's a solid action movie. The characters are well-established
and the story is solid.
George Clooney and Mark Walberg lead a strong cast.
Director Wolfgang Peterson's film is a class act.
Quick thoughts
Charlie's Angels one and two ... fun
Proof of Life ... well-done and thought provoking
Space Cowboys ...Yee Hah
The Replacements ...A solid and entertaining film from Reeves and Hackman
