Well Come.
Explore the Mysteries
of the
Celts

Stonehenge
Stonehenge is one of the greatest Mysteries.
It was built by an unknown people long before the Celts came to Britain.
Some call the builders of Stonehenge, the Picts. This may be right, it may not.
Some research indicates the name PICT was a Roman soldiers' derisive slang term for the Celts, since it equates to BLUE in Latin. Recent archeological finds give merit to this, having proven the myth that the Celts painted themselves blue and fought naked against the Romans. Others believe the Picts were slowly absorbed or conquered when the Celts migrated from Ireland, and remained their own race until the Middle Ages. Since the Celts had no discovered written language until the 7th Century AD, there is little evidence to determine conclusively which is true. Although, the Scots did refer to the Picts, in their earlier records, as if the Picts were, indeed, a seperate and different peoples altogether.

A Point To Ponder: St. Patrick is credited with driving all the serpents from Ireland. But to the Celts, the serpent represented the Ancient wisdoms and ways of their Lifestyle.
Another Point To Ponder: Patrick was a Welshman brought to Ireland as a slave. Upon his escape, he returned to Britain where he embraced Christianity. He returned to Ireland to bring Christ to the Pagan Irish Celts. In doing so, he saw to the destruction of over one-thousand volumes of " Pagan" Druidic records of Irish history, legend, wisdom, and lore.

Didyeno: The term Pagan was a Greek term to used denote the non-Christian Celts. Undoubtedly, the Greeks believed it helped to know who one was dealing with, in order to know how best to deal with them. Especially since the modern city of Marsailles, France was originally founded by the Greeks, as a trading colony specificly to stop the Celts from raiding Greek territories!
