Welcome to the Spacedock!

The Spacedock has sent attack cruisers to meet up with a sleeper ship (at the request of Baran); the:

The I.K.C. T'Ong's uses:

Attacking Then, Attacking Now: Since the I.K.C. T'Ong comes from a time when the Federation and the Klingon Empire were at war, why not use it for its intended purpose? With K'Temok (who can be downloaded with Ready Room Door), and Captain's Log (see previous), the I.K.C. T'Ong can become a force to be reckoned with. With a single personnel operating the ship, the Logged I.K.C. T'Ong can challenge most ships of the line.

Ah, The Good Old Days... : ...when personnel were put into play by reporting them to outposts. Now, downloading them via Assign Mission Specialists or Ready Room Door has become more popular. But wait, what if there were a card that allowed personnel to come into play faster even than these two cards?

That card is the I.K.C. T'Ong. With its ability to report with three personnel, the I.K.C. T'Ong offers an unprecedented opportunity to assemble a mega-team capable of going through dilemmas like Mot goes through misconceptions. Simply report the I.K.C. T'Ong with perhaps Governor Worf, Gowron, and Kurn to your outpost at the end of the spaceline (a space mission). Put those three on the outpost and then put one of the personnel who came out on a seeded AMS on the I.K.C. T'Ong. Attempt the mission, hit the Crystalline Entity you seeded there (which destroys the I.K.C. T'Ong). Next turn, report another I.K.C. T'Ong with three more personnel. In two turns, you have no less than seven personnel, only one of whom need be a mission specialist! Show your opponent the power of good old-fashioned reporting!

Of course, the personnel for this need to be in-hand, which is where this strategy stumbles against downloading. However, remember that Q's Tent brings cards into hand. Just use the I.K.C. T'Ong to bring your new personnel into play, and then send them forth to victory!

Note also that nowhere on the card is it stated that the personnel must be a *Klingon* personnel. Hence, the I.K.C. T'Ong could also be used to speed up decks of other affiliations (although this is rather outside the spirit of the game).

"My word! Is this the best ship out there?" Well, it has its limits...

"Pour On The Coal!" : Unfortunately, those three personnel come with a price. The I.K.C. T'Ong is agonizingly slow, moving as if with concrete shoes on both planet- and space-heavy spacelines. This slowness makes it largely unsuitable for battle decks (since it will not be able to catch enemies or keep up with an armada) and mission-completion decks (since it will not be able to reach missions with the proper alacrity). This is why the outpost should be at the end of the spaceline if one plans to use the I.K.C. T'Ong for quick reporting--anywhere else, and the I.K.C. T'Ong will be out of Range by the time it arrives (which will prevent it from escaping the location, if need be). In addition, the low Range necessitates the use of another ship, since once one moves beyond the outpost mission, the I.K.C. T'Ong will have trouble getting to the next mission on the agenda. In addition, the I.K.C. T'Ong's low Shields make it a tempting target for larger ships.

Final Analysis: Once the pride of the Klingon Empire, K'T'inga class vessels still have uses--just not their original ones. Spectacularly suited for use as a turbocharger, the I.K.C. T'Ong is largely unsuitable for use as a deck's primary ship.

Next week: The Spacedock combs space for the scan-resistant Mercenary Ship.
