The Drama of the 21st Century. The Roses Cigar From the beginning of time there has existed a forest of absolute peace and tranquility. This forest, bestowed upon earth by the creator, is here for one purpose. To guard and protect a sacred object. A single blue rose. This wasn't just any blue rose though. It was a smoking blue rose. At any given time it can be found puffing away on a high priced Cuban cigar. The rose treasures its cigars and has had no problems with them until this day. The sun rose early and the rose was eager to start the beginning of a brand new day. He reached into his pouch and pulled out a shiny new cigar. Next he whipped out a lighter. He looked at it. His buds curled up and a chuckling laugh burst out. What did he need a lighter for? He could produce fire from his leaf tips. He rubbed them together, felt the magic starting, and a flame protruded from the very tip of the leaf. He lit up his Cuban and started puffing away. He felt like a new rose. It was the best cigar he ever had. In fact, it was the only cigar he ever had. He kept smoking the same one over and over. Somehow, it just grew back. He took a deep puff and curled his head back. Ah, the succulent tast of fresh cigar. He was in heaven. Never had he tasted anything so good. He lay back and let the smoke envelop him with the sweet smell. This was the life. "Hey Ray...There it is!", came a whisper from behind a nearby tree. "I see it. Ooh baby, I can already taste it." Ernie and Ray had planned and searched for twenty-two years to find the blue rose and steal it's cigar. Now all of it was about to pay off. They knew exactly what to do. Ernie quietly walked up behind the rose. He motioned Ray to go around front and give him cover. The rose was leaning over, obviously enjoyiing himself. Suddenly Ernie's hand jutted out and got a firm hold on the cigar. A terrifying scream burst from the rose. It's little leaves reached out and grabbed Ernies hands. "Mine!", screamed Ernie. "I'll help!", came a reply as Ray ran up in front of the rose, which was rocking back and fourth. "Give me that cigar!", Ray studdered out as he was yanked back and fourth. All three of them were waving back and fourth like palm trees in a hurricane as they fought for the cigar. Ernie pulled one direction, then Ray pulled another. The poor rose was left with nothing to do but hold on to his cigar for dear life. Suddenly, with a hard jerk, Ray pulled the cigar from the roses leaves. He stumbled back a few steps and fell. Not knowing that he got the cigar, he pounced on the rose. "Hawpookie!", went the rose as he spit a whirling ball of mucus at Rays face. "My eye!", screamed Ray as he raced frantically around the grassy grove. "I'll help you.", yelled Ernie as he raced back and fourth to catch him. He pinned Ray to a tree and put his hands to his face. "Hold still...it won't hurt a bit." Suddenly Ernies hand dropped and he grabbed the cigar from Rays hand. The rose watched with a sad expression in its buds. Ernie and Ray both grabbed for the cigar and engaged in a tug of war above the rose. Abruptly the cigar broke in half and sprayed tobacco all over them and the rose. "What's happening!", they screamed as their skin turned blue and they started to shrink. In a second they became roses and were smoking their cigars. In the spot where the rose had been was a beautiful woman smoking a cigar. "See ya round boys.", she said as she walked away. |
