Background: His true identity is such a closely secret that few people alive know that Blackjack was born as Simon Chang in the Chinatown district of San Fransisco. Simon came from a poor family but was able through hard work to gain a scholarship at MIT where he studied Computer Science. During his years at MIT he met and fell in love with a young medical student called Jane O'Connor and the two of them would have married had Simons family not been tragically gunned down during a gang shootout on the streets one night. Simon decided to nail those responsible "legally" so he asked Jane to biosculpt him to hide his real identity and to surgically implant a hidden Simsense recorder in his body. After working his way carefully into the gang he gathered the evidenvce he needed and presented it to the police. Unfortunately he picked the wrong police to trust and he came home to find Jane dead after the police hand "raided" their flat and she had "attacked" them and was slain in "self-defence". Simon refused to believe a word of it and went into hiding and mourning for a year. When he emerged again he knew that if he wanted to see justice done then he would have to work alone and seek his own justice. He now uses various top-quality Med-Techies for his biosculpts but never appears before the same person with the same biosculpt more than once. Many doctors have operated on BlackJack (his street name) more than once without realising who he was. BlackJacks method of operations is to impersonate a corporate employee/ gang-banger/whatever and record what he sees - Corporate Massacres / Nuclear Waste dumping / illegal experiments / etc. Sometimes he even records his own terrorist activities (destroying Corporate assests and the like). The recordings are downloaded onto the Net for public consumption via temporary accounts at Cyber-Cafes' and somtimes even piped into public broadcast systems of all kinds for everyone to see. BlackJacks aim is to get people upset about what is happening to them - and to leave his calling card (Jack of Spades) at the feet of those who hurt others. |
