Hey, minna-san: I left the email exactly the way I wrote it.... so don't mind any of the personal comments. =)

WARNING: REEEEAAAAALLLLY LONG, SO ONLY READ IF YOU HAVE TIME TO SPARE!

Enjoy! =)

Dana,

Hi. I guess I'll be sending these synopses in 3 parts -- one for each series. Let me know if you get confused. Also, I'm searching for some sites which might explain better or give you a clearer picture, but I haven't found any yet. When (if) I do find them I'll forward them to you. Oh, one more thing, I'm probably going to slip into the Japanese names no matter how I try to stay w/ the American names, so here's an equivalency:

Serena = Usagi
Amy = Ami
Raye = Rei
Lita = Mako or Makoto
Mina = Minako
Rini = ChibiUsa
Darien = Mamoru or Mamo-chan
Sailor Scouts/Soldiers = Sailor Senshi
North American version = N/A/v

Sailor Moon S -- 3rd season

At the end of Sailor Moon R, Rei has a vision of the destruction of the world. She also has a vision of 2 new senshi in the shadows... she doesn't know if they are friends or enemies.

So, at the beginning of S, we meet the new villains, they are called the "Death Busters". The leader is a mad-scientist type w/ big glasses like Umino (Melvin) has. LOL. That's all you can see of his face... the rest is in shadow. They are after things called "Talismans", there are 3 of them and when they come w/in close range of each other they form the Holy Grail (also called the Holy Chalice or the Sacred Cup). If the bad guys' "messiah" gets all 3 talismans and make the Sacred Cup then they have the power to destroy the world. If the good guys' "messiah" gets it first then they have the power to save the world & get rid of the bad guys. By the way, the bad guys are aliens who have come from somewhere in outer space. Also, the talismans come from the "pure hearts" of the 3 people who hold them.

The first minion is named Kaolinite. Do you remember when Jadeite & Nephlite & the others used monsters to drain energy & stuff, well those were called "youmas". These monsters are called "daimons". (I guess translates to demon in English?) Anyway, what happens is the scienitist makes these little daimon eggs and the minion puts it into an object. When a person with a "pure heart" touches the object, the daimon comes out and attacks him. Then Kaolinite uses her powers to take the "pure heart" out of the person. Every time, the pure heart comes out -- it looks like a multi-pointed star -- but it does not turn into a talisman. So, she doesn't care what happens to it and disappears. But then Sailor Moon & the gang have to battle the daimon in order to put the pure heart back into the person and to defeat the daimon.

But Sailor Moon's attack doesn't work -- it isn't strong enough to defeat the daimons. (At this point her attack was Moon Princess Halation, I forgot what it was in the N/A/v.) So, basically she's devastated, and losing the battle, but that's when the other 2 senshi appear. They are Uranus & Neptune -- the senshi of the outer planets -- their mission is to protect the earth from aliens from beyond the solar system. That's why they're in this -- cause the Death Busters are aliens & Uranus & Neptune have to defeat them. So U&N defeat the daimon w/ their cool attacks (World Shaking & Deep Submerge), but they are looking for the talismans too so the bad guys won't get the Sacred Cup. And, compared to the inners, they are ruthless -- cause if they find a talisman they won't care about the person it came from, even if without their pure heart, the person would die.

Okay, now I won't be as detailed cause you have a lot of the background info. A few episodes later, Sailor Moon gets a new transformation & a new attack -- Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up! and Moon Spiral Heart Attack. The new trans. & attack allow her to defeat the daimons. But she & the inners still don't know if they can trust the outers -- the outers have over-emphasized how ruthless they are willing to be in order to save the world. (Understandable, I think.)

A few more episodes later, we meet Haruka -- Minako & Usagi think she's a guy the whole episode, but we know she's a girl cause she's Sailor Uranus. And she has a relationship w/ a girl Michiru who is actually Sailor Neptune. (Yes, they're lesbians.) At the end of the episode they find out she's really a girl (it's hysterical!). Anyway, they are unaware of each other's identities.

Later, the inners kill Kaolinite and Eudial takes her place. Eudial is the first of the group called the "Witches 5". Eudial is so much cooler cause she's *much* more intelligent! And toward the end of her life she actually discovers the identities of Sailor Moon and Uranus & Neptune, along with the others. It is in that same episode that Moon & U & N discover each other's identities -- at the same exact time, in fact. Later, she even figures out who the holders of the talismans are. And she lures U & N to her "place" to find out, but it turns out that U & N are the holders of the talismans. So there's a big emotional scene when N was captured and Eudial holds a gun (which shoots something that makes the pure heart come out) to U's chest & N breaks free of her chains in order to save U. But Eudial shoots N first and so U understands that it is they who hold the talismans. And altho U loves N, she still lets her "die" and actually shoots herself (when she shoots herself Eudial had been chased away by Usagi) w/ the gun so her talisman will come out.

So then it is a race b/n Moon & Eudial to get the talismans. Then Pluto appears and reveals that she has the 3rd talisman -- her garnet orb at the top of her time staff. But she's alive!? So she hold it up & the 3 talismans start to glow, then U & N's pure hearts separate from the talismans and go back into their bodies -- so they're alive too! (yay!)

So they fight Eudial, but she escapes. But now they have the talismans and it forms the Sacred Cup which Sailor Moon uses to become "super". Meaning she gets a new transformation and a new attack and she's more powerful than before. The new trans is Crisis, Make Up! and the attack is Rainbow Moon Heartache.

Then you see Eudial escaping in her car, but there's a note from the 2nd of the Witches 5, Mimete. Mimete pulled her breaks, so Eudial drives off a cliff. (And with her goes the identities of the senshi.)

Mimete is so funny -- she's kind of like Minako -- she wants to be a star, she loves popular actors, etc. She's cute. Anyway, she has a new kind of daimon that comes out and swallows the pure heart. Now, the Death Busters are just trying to get pure hearts for energy for their mysterious "Messiah of Silence", not for the talismans.

She lasts for quite a while. Later, for one episode each are the other 3 Witches 5, although the last one splits into 2 -- her and her twin (very weird, but I love them). Tellu, Viluy, and Cyprine/Ptilol. During Mimete's life we meet Hotaru, she becomes ChibiUsa's friend. But Haruka & Michiru tell ChibiUsa to stay away from Hotaru because she's dangerous. But ChibiUsa doesn't. Gradually you discover that Hotaru is the "Messiah of Silence" because her father is the mad-scientist, but they aren't really evil, it's because they were possessed by the aliens. So,toward the very end, they steal ChibiUsa and Hotaru eats her pure heart causing transforms into the Messiah of Silence, Mistress 9. Her purpose is to call Pharoah 90 and destroy the world. But, of course, Moon heals her & everyone is saved.

We also discovered just before Hotaru turns into M9 that she is also the last senshi -- Sailor Saturn.

So, at the end, Hotaru is kind of "reborn" -- she comes back -- she's a few months old. And her father, Professor Tomoe, can't remember anything during his possession and is glad his daughter is back w/ him.

Then, U & N challenge Moon's position as weilder of the Sacred Cup & as leader of the senshi, but we know it's because they are testing her. Moon fights them & wins... U says something about "so the Sacred Cup will be safe with the Messiah" and typically, Moon is confused about what she means... (that Moon is the Messiah).

The End!

Wow! I know that was long & detailed. I hope you understand it all. I'll still look for those info sites which might be more clear, but if you'd like to see what all the villains look like, go to this site. It's a really great site, one of the first I went to when I first got into Sailor Moon.

http://www.tcp.com/doi/smoon/char/index.html

Click on the links of the character's name to see a brief description of the character and a pic or two. If you scroll down, the villains are listed by what season they were in... the senshi & the good guys are just listed at the top.

Next one will be coming as soon as I have the time to write another looooooong description of Super S (the 4th season). It'll probably be shorter 'cause it's not as interesting.

Also, I left a lot of the funny stuff out of the description -- it's basically just the facts. If you'd like I could bring in the episodes to SMS and you could start watching.... I could bring one tape at a time (each tape has b/n 8 and 12 eps on it) and either we could watch it together (if you'd like, in Bobst you can use their VCRs for free) or you can borrow it yourself and then when you return that I'd bring in the next tape.
