Public officials

Humor and SF

In most cases this genre warn us of dangers we face when a bad use of science or technology is performed, or how this science in people hands whose respect towards life is scarce, can lead to disastrous consequences. That's why many people think that we mustn't frivolise with a matter as serious as the future of the humankind.

Nevertheless humor sells, and as introducing a comic relief like the mad doctor (Doc Emmett Brown

in Back to the future, Joseph Cavor in First men in the Moon...) as using humor in the ironic way to criticize our present society from a future perspective (Mat Groenning's Futurama), humor has a relevant place in SF.

In my opinion, I have nothing against merging both genres whenever it don't derive into something excessive or clownish.

About the illustration, first of all I'd like to say I've done it with all the respect and affection that public officials deserve, whose inmaculated labour is fundamental for the good duty of society (what else can I say? my fathers and brother are all public officials... ).
