Based off the ground-breaking CGI show ReBoot by Mainframe Entertainment, RPM is based in the 25th Century.  The Earth is becoming overcrowded, and for one reason or another, interplanetary colonization is out of the question.  So mankind's scientists create the Gateway, a device that can transport a human into a computer to a newly created colony world for habitation.

The problem?  The colony worlds and the computer systems are not uninhabited.  Humans come face-to-face with sprites and 'anthros,' animals with very human characteristics.  War ensues, until a shaky peace is banged out.  Now they just have to live with each other.

Created and run by Cybercat, RPM is a shared ficverse, which means each fic that is put on the site affects future fics.  I currently have one series up on the site, the Resonate Series (currently six fics strong, with a seventh on the way), and a second series in the works, the Chronicles of Justice.

"The Purge" - Set during the Colony Wars, the human military begins an aggressive campaign to rid themselves of a major threat to their control -- the Viruses. Prologue

The Resonate Series centers around a young writer named Quinn Rentack, who moves to the Resonate System to get a change of scenery--hoping this will cure him of his apparently terminal case of writer's block.  Within minutes of arriving, Quinn meets David Gabbiani and a family of sprites called the Aughts, then just as quickly, he discovers that David is a hacker named 'DaVinci' and becomes permanently tied to their lives.

The problem is that DaVinci has a colored past, with a deadly virus constantly trying to conquer the Net and an insane former colleague who is the leader of a racist terrorist group, and that past continues to impact their lives.

#1: "Comes the Wolf" - Young writer Quinn Rentack falls in with a group of hackers, and quickly finds himself in over his head when the mysterious 'Il Lupe' comes to call.

#2:  "Incoming Game" - Lean Il Lupe resurfaces and challenges Rentack et al. to a deadly game--one that could put all of the Net at risk.

#3: "Immoral Practices" - The Exley brothers kidnap Quinn and Naught and 'recruit' them for a series of bizarre experiments.

#4: "Resonate Ground Zero" - When one of Lean's former associates resurfaces, the Resonate System is turned into a living hell.

#5: "Arlington Road Syndrome" - A series of bizarre shooting sprees prompts DaVinci to check up on his former employers. What he finds there is more horrifying than he had ever imagined.

#6: "Separation Anxiety" - Cato stalks Quinn and Niente while Naught, Nada, and DaVinci try to outthink Elogin and Sagittaria.

#7: "Mindfields" - Chaos abounds as the True Force attaccks Quinn's holofilm, Archer betrays Lazarus, and Elogin stalks DaVinci.

#8: "Reckoning" (in progress) - DaVinci copes with his situation as forces converge on Lazarus and Archer.  Prologue

The Chronicles of Justice center around a mercenary named Nathan Justice, a hardened soldier who never smiles, and the crew of his ship, the Grizzly.  It is much more action-based, and, unlike the Resonate Series, the Chronicles will feature a greater variety of villains, the first of which is an evil hacker named Chaotis.

#1: "A New Type of Justice" - A hard-as-nails mercenary and his crew must fight a viral infection in a stranded system.

#2: "The Crimson Claw" – Prime Jennings sends Justice to locate a missing Guardian, who is in the clutches of a particularly vicious hate group.

#3: "The Tempest Affair" -- Justice can take anything they throw at him, except for one thing -- the weather.  And how is he supposed to fight that?

#4: "On the Lam" (in progress) -- Forces conspire against Justice, Dirk, and Sil, causing them to run from the law as the criminal elements take advantage of their weakness.  Prologue 1
