Order of Existence
Oracle Dragons
oracalis major draconis
Each Oracle Dragon has a slight ability to read the future. Oracle Dragons communicate amongst themselves and others through thought-speech. Oracles usually communicate between themselves by a language of clicks and whirs, that the human brain can not understand. Thought-speech is used rarely when conversing between themselves. In thought-speech, the messages are transferred through the Oracle’s mind and aimed at the person that the Oracle wishes to talk to. The generic abilities differ from specie to specie, varying within the genders as well. The Order of Existence is that the Uniqæ are high in power, the Simplæ following behind, but the highest ranked of the Oracle species are the Differæ. Mistæks are forms of the species that are slight mutations, and are very rare. A Mistæk will usually be ranked having the highest power and quality. Each Oracle Dragon is given a name that is told from the hatchling to the bondmate, at the time of the bonding, when the Oracles are adopted. The name should be regarded as a ceremonial name, used only when most important, and the Oracle hatchling should be given a nickname to be called regularly, at the Dragon’s lair. If the Oracle Dragon is abandoned, it can and usually will rebond. An Oracle Dragon will not rebond to the being that abandoned it. If no humans are at the hatching, the Simplæ will follow the guidance of the more important Oracles, and a tribe of feral Oracle Dragons will develop. This is a rare occurance, and has been accounted for only by the brave and fearless. A band of feral Oracle Dragons is very dangerous if you do not know their customs. Very rarely, a non human bonds with one, and if they do, usually have very good qualities. The Oracle Dragons use what mind powers they have and identify the traits, both good and bad, of the applicants.
Simplæ
simplis oracalis draconis
The Simplæ are the most common of the Oracle Dragon. At least three out of five in a small clutch are Simplæ. The female usually mates with another Simplæ, but sometimes a Uniqæ will mate with one. The males of the type only mate with female Simplæ. They can communicate among themselves rather easily, but have a small limit in what they can transfer to other species through thought-speech, especially ones other than their bondmate. It is very rare for a Simplæ Oracle Dragon to be able to communicate to humans in complete sentences, even rarer for one to be able to hear you. Simplæ will bond with the first human they come in contact with. Their ability to read the future is vague, and rarely do they reveal anything of the truth. The Simplæ tend to boast of their abilities, but when questioned, most prove false. Their temperament varies on the color; each will react differently to being proven wrong, or being given something. Most Simplæ are very nice once they know you, and will become a friend to almost anyone. Almost all Simplæ do not like to admit that they are telling incorrectly. The markings on a Simplæ are very organized, and never vary from the original colors, or breeds. Each color has slightly different powers, and their markings vary from breed to breed. By order of tradition, the Simplæ’s ceremonial name must end in ‘in. (ex. Rial’in).
Uniqæ
uniquenis oracalis draconis
The Uniqæ are rarer than the Simplæ, and are slightly different in temperament, they do not make abrupt decisions, and rarely tell anything that they do not believe in. A female Uniqæ will usually has a clutch of about six to thirteen eggs. A female Uniqæ will mate with male Uniqæ, and Differæ. Males will mate with female Uniqæ, Differæ, and rarely, Simplæ. When they bond, they do not accept any creature that claims them. They have some sense of dignity, and will search among all that witness the hatching until they find someone. Uniqæ’s have stronger mind powers, and can usually thought-speak in full sentences. Thought-speaking fully wears them out very quickly, so when excited usually speak in incomplete sentences. The markings on an Uniqæ are always duplicates of the original Uniqæ’s. Some colors have subtle differences in mind power, but not enough to be noticed by one with an untrained eye. Uniqæ are usually a bit more active than the Simplæ, but sometimes a Simplæ is unusually very athletic. By tradition, a Uniqæ Oracle Dragon’s ceremonial name must end in ‘ra. (Ex. Thrus’ra).
Differæ
differ orcalis draconis
The Differæ are the most rare of the Oracle Dragons. The temperaments of this type vary, depending on the Oracle. A female Differæ usually lays a clutch of fifteen or more eggs. A female will mate with male Differæ, and Uniqæ. A male will mate with a female Differæ, Uniqæ, or, very rarely, a Mistæk. Considered to be the superiors, all of the other Oracles listen when a Differæ is speaking. In a feral band, a Differæ is the leader, and even when they have been domesticated, all types of Oracle Dragons will listen to a Differæ’s request or order. When bonding, a Differæ will chose a bondmate that has the best qualities. If there is not one worth bonding, the Differæ will stay at its birthplace until its match comes. To be a bondmate to a Differæ is a privilege, and those who are bonded to one should be grateful that the Differæ chose them to bond with. A Differæ’s mind powers are very strong, and the Oracle can sustain contact with many people at once, and not tire. The link to the Differæ’s Bondmate is so sensitive that each can read the other’s feelings. Differæ are great athletes, and like to show off their abilities. Each Differæ has more than one marking, and the appearance of this type, shows that more than one color from the Uniqæ or Simplæ put together decorates it. Each has the combined powers of the colors that make up its extraordinary hide. By order of tradition, a Differæ’s ceremonial name must end in ‘yi. (Ex. Renl’yi).
Mistæk
mistakis orcalis draconis
Very rarely, a Mistæk is born. A female Mistæk will mate only with male Differæ. The male of the type is sterile, and can not fly a female of any type. A Mistæk is known to be one when an Oracle Dragon has a small stripe on the back of their neck. A Mistæk has magic unknown before, and each one is different. A Mistæk has great mind powers, and all are able to transport things to them, if they know the exact location of the object. The reason for this type to be able to do such things has yet to be fully understood. Many believe it is a form of small evolution or mutation. Others just believe that they are special, and have a reason for being so different. By tradition, a Mistæk Oracle Dragon’s ceremonial name must end in ‘aysa, and have a double vowel. (Ex. Ruun’aysa).
