Mike was responsible for the genesis of the, the international guild of space artists, serving on the initial steering committee along with NOVAGRAPHICS' Kim Poor, and STAR TREK's Rick Sternbach. Mike organized the first-ever space art exhibition at the Planetary Society's first Planetfest during the first Voyager encounter with Saturn in 1981. He was also chairman of the second space art workshop held in otherworldly Death Valley in 1983, which resulted in the first North American touring space art exhibit, Other Worlds, during 1984-1987. He is also chairman for the upcoming space art workshop in Arches National Park in September of 1995.
Mike was staff artist for the Reuben Fleet Space Theater, one of the world's largest planetariums and OMNIMAX theatres in San Diego. Recently he has moved back to his hometown of Denver as a free-lance artist. He lives with his wife Caroline, son Andy and daughter Allie.
