A Leap For Bingo

Prologue

I opened the paper bag I got from Border's, sliding the book out quickly. I was surprised I even got it. But, as I was looking for a new Star Wars or Sliders book, it caught my eye and I just had to have it. I was addicted once upon a time to it, but outgrew it since then as I got interested in new science-fiction stories. I had everything back then: videos, comic books, a T-shirt, novels; however, my new purchase was different from anything I had before. It was around back then, but I never saw it until now.

I looked at the black, blue and orange cover, wondering how the orange got there since it was not a color associated with it. In blue bubble letters, it read "Quantum Leap." In an orange box, it had "A to Z." Alpha to Zeplin, I thought, thinking about the first and last Greek letters which I learned when my older sister was pledging a sorority (is it Zeplin or Omega? Zeplin sounds Greek, whatever it is.) Below the box, it read "From Al to Ziggy." Ziggy's cool, even though she keeps breaking down (must be related to my Internet program.) Who cares about Al? I cannot believe I was once an Al-coholic! He's a jerk and always a jerk! At least for 90-something episodes. One of the reasons why I bought the book was when I opened the book, it opened right up to the middle of Al Calavicci's life and his messed up, lecherous life gave me a good laugh.

I sat on the leather sofa in my family's den, looking at the grandfather clock which read one o'clock and the moon was showing above the numbers. Half asleep I stopped the VCR which was showing an episode of MAJOR DAD, which was accidentally discovered after two-hours of SLIDERS. My mind going from one military man to another and going from one sci-fi story to another, I opened the book. I flipped the pages until I came to the "C"'s. "Calavicci, Admiral Albert, USN" was first on the list, giving him proper recognition.

I read until my eyes got heavy, and that brings me to the part when I feel like Annabel Andrews in Freaky Friday (my favorite story as a child.) Like Annabel said in the movie, "Nobody in their right mind could possibly believe me, but everything is 100% true."
