Fire Reef

The gentle surge washes you back and forth as you paddle around, looking at the bright triggerfish as they flash their tails at you before darting off. A spotted ray glides across the bottom, stirring up whitish sand. Different, bright coloured corals and barnacles reach their feathers out, siphoning the water.

Then, you see a long fish, about the size of a dolphin swimming towards you. It glides around you gracefully, its blue, pink and red speckled back shimmering gently. You then noticed the long legs, hooves and equine face. It's a hippocampus!

It tosses its silky pink mane, and it flicks its green tail, sending bubbles up towards you. *Welcome to Fire Reef. I am Lily, Gaurdian of this ocean. If you like, I will take you to the Reef.* She arches her back to offer a fin. You grap ahold of the delicate, slippery fin and with a toss of her head, Lily tows you to a brighter, richer part of the reef.

Corals of all different colors grow, and fish teem everywhere. You spot unicornfish, triggers, eels, seahorses and even one turtle. Life has exploded within the warm, protected reef, and it greets you by having little fish nibble at your toes and fingers.

*If you snorkel for a little while, perhaps you may see our more sentient residents. Or I can tow you back to Peaceful Surf Beach.* Lily makes a whickering noise as she dives down to start grazing on some sea plants, waiting until you are ready to head back.

Savana
