Star Wars vs. Star Trek

Chapter 9

The new universe has proven more of a challenge than I had hoped for, thought Yung. These Kilingons, these Federation people... they all must be crushed under the power of the Empire. But not today.

" Status?" Captain Yung asked no one on particular.

" We are completing repairs now. The rest of the fleet is just about combat ready," the Lieutenant answered back.

Not a bad battle, considering all things. We lost about half of out frigates, a few corvettes, six Victory-class SD, and sadly enough, an ISD. Neither SSD was lost to enemy fire though, both being combat ready. Thirty three ships killed by out fire. It would have been the Federation's slaughter if they didn't surprise us with their dammed cloaking device. Also, the small matter with the Klingons.... Next time there would be no surprises, no exception. Nothing but total victory would be accepted. Out fighters fared well though, with a loss of only forty fighters throughout the entire battle. Not a single bomber loss either, Yung thought. Yung gazed out the windows and into space. Next time... next time....

Commander Mask lifted his glass of alcohol up high in the officer's lounge. " To the Empire!" he said, a hint of drunkeness in his breath. Shouting, his fellow fighter pilots also raised their cups. " To not a single loss of an assualt gunboat in the entire battle!" he yelled. The federation shuttles had been too slow, he thought. Easy targets they were. Although their shields had proven exceptionally strong, their lack of maneuverability was their weakness. Although the warship's battle had gone less... victorious, the fighter morale was skyrocketing.

"We should be appraoching the Neutral Zone in five minutes " the Lieutenant reported.

" Prepare to open the anomoly again," Yung said, sighing, " and tell the fleet to prepare to enter it." They had traveled 19 light years in 2 hours, which was faster than any Federation ship could dream of going. And, in that time, the fleet was combat ready. It would be pointless to stay in the Alpha Quadrant. We must go back, and get reinforcements. Then, we shall crush them...

" Dropping out of hyperspace... now." The fleet lurched from hyperspace, back into real space their speed decreasing as they flew. " Sir, scanners are picking up three medium sized ships dead ahead. They are classified as ' Romulan Warbirds ' Should we attack?"

" Are they powerful?"

" Yes. Federation records show that one plasma torpedo holds the power of a single blast from all out turbolasers. Wait, it's breaking course. They are going to 'warp' ".

" All Interdictors at full power." He thought That way, they can't leave, and no one can come in.

Onboard the lead Romulan ship, there was a bustle of activity.

"Why the hell can't we go to warp?" asked Commander T'Shalo

"We are working on that right now, sir," came the reply from one of his lieutenants.

A few moments later, the lieutenant reported back. "Sir, we believe that the reason we cannot go to warp is that five of the ships that just arrived about .5 light years away are putting out a field that increases the gravity of an area, causing anyone inside it from going to warp."

"Well, then, we shall have to destroy them. Cloak and set up an attack run," ordered T'Shalo.

"Commander, you do not have the authority to start a war with an unknown species with out orders from Romulus" interjected the Centurion.

"To hell with Romulus Central, I must get to the main Starfleet fleet if we are to help with destroying the new enemy. For all we know, THIS could be the enemy fleet. As soon as we destroy the five ships that are keeping us here, we leave for the staging point."

The three Warbirds cloaked and set up their attack run.

On the Stormfire, "Sir! The Romulan ships have dissappeared!"

"Do they, too have cloaking?" asked Yung.

"Yes, but they have a type that is nothing like that that Starfleet and the Klingons have."

"Do we have any idea where they are going?"

"No, sir. They couldn't be going far, because they can't go to warp unless they…"

All of a sudden, the three Romulan ships decloaked and fired five plasma torpedoes each, one at each Interdictor.

"Sir! We have lost four of our five Interdictors and the fifth is severely damaged! The Romulans are going into warp!"

"Let them. We will get our revenge later. Right now, concentrate on repairing the ship."
