Joining the Rebel fleet encircling Endor, the Enterprise, Voyager, and Defiant docked with the fleet's flagship, Home One. The negotiation party consisted of Picard, Sisko, Data, and Troi. Entering the briefing room, Picard saw a group of people, four humans and one fish-like creature.
The elder woman of the group spoke first. "I am Mon Mothma, leader of the Rebel Alliance." She indicated the fish man. "This is Admiral Ackbar, the head of our forces." She nodded towards the three other humans. "And these are General Solo, Princess Leia, and Jedi Luke Skywalker."
Picard bowed. "I am Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, and this is Capt. Benjamin Sisko, Counselour Deanna Troi, and Lt. Cmdr. Data."
"Are you a Jedi?" Luke asked of Troi.
"Pardon me, a what?"
Mon Mothma smiled. "There is no clear explanation, but the Jedi are the wielders of a phenomenon we know as 'the Force.' It is a type of energy field generated by all living things. The Jedi used this power to protect the galaxy in the days of the Old Republic. Now, Jedi Skywalker is the only Jedi left."
"What happened to them?" Sisko asked.
"They were hunted down and killed by the Emperor and Darth Vader, a Dark Jedi." Leia shuddered as she spoke the name of Vader. Troi noticed, but sensed it was a deeply personal issue.
"And we avenged their deaths." Han murmured. He wrapped his arm around Leia's waist, comforting her.
"I see, but why would you assume I was a Jedi?" Troi asked.
Luke responded, "You sense other people's thoughts and emotions. That is one of the powers of a Jedi." Turning to Data, he said, "And you are unlike any droid I have ever seen."
Han started. "He's a droid?!"
"Yes, General Solo, I am an android. I would be most delighted to meet any android models your culture has. I, unfortunately, am the only one of my kind."
Just then, C-3PO entered. "Oh, Master Luke, Master Luke, Artoo has been conversing with the aliens' computers and has found out some information that might interest you. It concerns. . .oh, dear, have I interrupted something?"
Admiral Ackbar said in his gravelly, aquatic voice, "Commander Data, this is one of the droids you desire to meet. This is a protocol droid."
Threepio bowed. "I am C-3PO, human cyborg relations. I am fluent in over six million forms of communication. .."
"Fascinating." Data whispered. "I am Lt. Cmdr. Data, I am also a 'droid'."
"Oh my, you're unlike any droid I've ever met. You must meet Artoo, if that's alright, Master Luke?"
"Go ahead," Luke answered.
"Sir, if I may?"
"Go on, Data," Picard answered.
The two left the room, only bits of their discussion being audible. "I heard you using a contraction," Data quereid, "are all droids capable of such speech?"
Mon Mothma resumed the discussion. "Now, down to business."
Grand Admiral Thrawn sat in his quarters looking over multiple tactical reports. Captain Paellaeon stopped after just entering and looked around the room at the holographic images of the art of some people. Thrawn looked up at the Captain. "All would seem lost for us."
Thrawn smiled and looked at the Captain. "No my Captain, you put to much importance on our recently deceased Emperor and his lackey Vader. They were both very powerful but just because they were lost in the destruction of the second Death Star that does not mean the end of the empire. I have been planning for this time for a long time. But that is unimportant. Look around you captain, what do you see?
Paellaeon looked at the art surrounding him. "Sir I see holograms of art unlike Iv'e ever seen before. What species made these."
Thrawn smiled. "These belong to species from the new universe. Look very closely. This section over here belongs to a group called the Ferengi. I believe that we will be able to ... purchase their services on the other side and possiblly our own. To my right you see a myriad of pieces from differing planets from a group called the Dominion. Almost as regal sounding as Empire don't you think. They already war with our new found enemies. Don't forget the enemy of my enemy is always my freind. Here you see the art of the Romulan people... very calculating. I do not believe that they truly wish to help this federation. I believe that we will be able to convince them to stay out of the fighting. The Klingons are a differant story. Violent and very prone to fighting and aggression. They are less predictable and not a foe we need fight. I do not believe they will join us or even stay out of the fighting. They are the greatest threat. And finally the federation. It's made up of people who love peace. It is a group which has never been able to deal with its own problems. In order to survive it has always relied on the works of individuals. People who distinguish themselves. People who defeat what their entire armada of warships could not. Unfortunantly for them the majority of people like that are in this universe. The battle here is as difficult as ever. But in their universe the federation and Klingon will have quite a battle."
Ever since he had heard of the Emperors death captain Pellaeon had been filled with a sense of dread. For the first time since then the captain started to feel a sense of hope and understanding of what could happen.
"Prepare the Chimera to go to the other side. We have some diplomacy to work out. And we go by ourselves..."
The form of the Imperial Class Star Destroyer began to move slowly toward the whirling gases that had formed a moment before. Before moving into this new universe a single message was sent out. A message containing only one word.
With that last order spreading through out the empire the great triangular form of the lone warship disapeered into the void.
