- Miscellaneous Notes About the Stories -

'The Slayers' belongs to Hajime Kanzaka and Rui Araizumi.

Those of you who have taken the time to read my stories may have noticed that, while these are Slayers fanfics; the Slayers themselves don't have really big roles. Sorry if I've disappointed you; but the way I write - the heroes only exist to spoil the cool villain's day.

Prelude

Official characters:

Original characters:

Slayers Revenge

I did not make up the part about Deep Sea Dolphin being insane. That was something I read elsewhere on the net. I did however, create the characters of Scylla and Charybdis since I don't know who her priest and general actually are. If their names sound familiar to you it's because I named them after two mythic sea monsters. I know I broke the theme of the dark lords naming their servants after themselves, but I just couldn't get any decent names out of 'Deep Sea Dolphin'. Could you?

Revival

This story is important because it sets the stage for the rest of the Mazoku Chronicles. Here, Shabranigdo is reborn and restores order among his minions. I tried to focus on the characterization of the members of the Mazoku heirarchy and their opinions of each other. This story was a lot of fun to write. My inspiration for Shabranigdo's personality was none other than Dr. Evil of Austin Powers. Mwaa haa haa ha!

Slayers Tactics

I decided that I wanted to write a story about Dynast's general, Sherra - and this is what my brain coughed up. Sherra, Dynast, and Grau are not my original characters. My inspiration for Sherra's personality came from General Leo of the Super Nintendo game 'Final Fantasy III'. I decided to make her a dedicated and honorable person, but with a warm, caring side as well. I thought it was more interesting to write a character that could be admired and sympathized with than just another monster out to get Lina. As for Grau, I had nothing to go on but his name. I take full responsibility for his appearance and personality. His character is a foil to Sherra. I didn't mess with Dynast too much, although he is an important character. The only original character of any importance in this story was Claudio, Sherra's lieutenant. I didn't give him a whole lot of depth in this story. His main function was to show how Sherra treats her subordinates.

Reclamation

Reclamation is the continuation of Slayers Tactics. You didn't actually think I'd let Sherra stay dead, did you? Sherra's background is a complete fabrication. Claudio gets some characterization in this story. My inspiration for his character was Jun Aoi from 'Martian Successor Nadesico', and also Miki Kouru from 'Revolutionary Girl Utena', with a bit of Suboshi and Eagle Vision. I came very close to killing him off in this story, but opted not to. Instead I threw in some 'Revolutionary Girl Utena' imagery at the end when Sherra pulled her sword out of his chest. That's about all I have to say about this story. Oh yeah, and if you didn't figure it out - the new Hellmaster is Eris.

Troublemakers

Thus begins the saga of my two favorite original characters, Phobos and Breeze.  Phobos is a mixture of Dilandau Albatau of Vision of Escaflowne, The Mole of the South Park Movie, and Judecca of Wild Arms 2.  My goal was to create a character that would make you think - 'Damn that guy is fucked up'.  Breeze was influenced by Lina Inverse, Bart Simpson, and Duo Maxwell.
