Belgarath The Sorcerer
He is the greatest and oldest wizard of his world, but also likes the small life of
a thief or story-teller.
As senior brother among the disciples of Aldur, he, too qualifies nicely to the Wizard Sage
category. He and all other wizards of his world are no normal human beings but special
ones, chosen by their god to a life of immortality and power in his service.
Belgarath, like the others in this group, tends to do most of his work in the
background and supply the central character of the saga (Garion) mostly with
advice and direction.
Together with his daughter Polgara they work on making sure
Garion appears at all.
Polgara, on the other hand, is not your average womanly fairy
god mother. she's more like an average version between the
Wizard Sage and the Adventuring wizard, guised in the body
of a beautiful woman with a temper that could blow off the world.
Inspite of her temper she manages to her long and tedious job of
raising the generations of Garion's fore-fathers to make sure he'll
be born.
