Everybody Loves Chauvelin.
You just have to. It's almost a law of nature.
Whether you call him Armand, Bibi, Citizen, Chauvelin, Chambertin, ChauChau, Shovelin, Shove-Along, or The Terrorist, the fact is inescapable. Even if you think he is the most evil, cold-hearted son of an aristo to ever grace the pages of a novel or walk the stage, there is still something undeniably likable about him. Maybe it's his unfailing devotion to the cause of the French Revolution. Maybe it's that wonderful look of disgust he gets whenever he has to be in the same room as Sir Percy Blakeney. Maybe it's just the fact that he's a nifty little guy with a cool name and a penchant for black fabric. Whatever the reason, Chauvelin has managed to capture the imaginations and hearts (and heads) of readers and audience members for nearly a hundred years.
