Tenerife - Canary Islands |
Apartment 39 Golf del Sur is in south Tenerife. It’s 10 mins from the airport and although very near, the aeroplanes didn’t spoil our holiday at all. Golf del Sur is an area of golf resorts with many restaurants and small shops. It’s a quiet area to stay in but has great access to the bigger towns of Tenerife such as Playa del las Americas and Los Cristianos which are only 15mins via the motorway. Our apartment was at Duquesa del Mar, a small area of apartments centred around a shared swimming pool, Jacuzzi and baby pool. There are many restaurants within walking distance along the sea front and a supermarket nearby. The apartment had everything two adults and a one and a half year old toddler could need. The place is spacious with a big balcony and plenty of room inside and out for our little one to run around safely. It had two bedrooms one double and a smaller with two single beds. Two bathrooms, one with bath and one with a shower. And everything you need literary in between; cooker and hob, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, TV, stereo, DVD player. There wasn’t a thing missing. ![]() Sites Visited El Teide There is a tourist information with shop and further up the road there is a café at the foot of the volcano. You can also ride the cable cars so that you can reach the top. Unfortunately the day we went it was too windy to go up and the cable cars weren’t running. The views are still amazing from the bottom of the volcano. I can only imagine how wonderful they are at the top. Loro Parque ![]() ![]() Beaches
![]() Eating Out We ate in most of the time as we have a little one, but we did sample some of the local restaurants. There is a very nice Japansese/Chinese restaurant along the sea front called Tapanaki. There are also many other types, Italian, Spanish and sea food restaurants which we didn’t get chance to sample. If you are eating in, there are quite a few restaurants that also do takeaways. And for shopping there is a huge supermarket at the entrance to Golf del Sur called Mercadonna, which is a lot cheaper than the local supermarket. The only thing is that for some reason we couldn’t find fresh milk there.![]() Summary
The apartment we stayed in was just perfect, so well looked after and just right for what we needed. I certainly recommend these apartments if you want a quiet stay in southern Tenerife. We did hire a car, which we needed to get to the beaches and around the Island. But don’t let the maps fool you, although the shorter routes look the quickest, they are very twisty and slow. Stick the motorway wherever you can, it’s so much quicker. It’s a nice island, it didn’t have the character unlike some other places we have been to. But for the time of the year we went where the weather wasn’t so warm in the rest of Europe, it’s a very lovely place to goInformation Tenerife lettings Loro Parque Canaries-live.com EuroSol.com ![]() Visited destination: 12th – 22th March 2006 |
