Power of the Three

When you hear the word "witch" what is the first thing that comes to mind? Probably an evil looking old woman stooped over a boiling cauldron wearng a pointed hat with a big ugly wart on her nose. Well my friends, I hate to break it to you but we are normal people just like you. We have lives, jobs, carreers, and more importantly we have feelings too.

Wicca is not just a "religion" but a way of life. Some of us believe in Powers we refer to as the Goddess and God or the Lord and Lady; still others believe in Gods and Goddess of many names. But you ask ANY Wiccan who their Divine Diety(s) are and they will say the God and Goddess no matter what then name them.

We ,mankind, have been given this beautiful Earth to live on. It is out responsibility to care of her, considering that she feeds us, clothes us, and protects us. We commune with nature through rites, meditation, and gifts. Such as planting new trees and plants, recycling our trash, etc. Wicca is not what you would call structured. Wicca is best discribed as per case basis. What I mean by that is, what works and is comfortable for me may not be for you. It all depends on what YOU are comfortable with. For example; I prefer to call the Divine the Goddess and God. Someone else may like calling Them the Lord and Lady, still others may perfer to create their own names for them.

The Goddess and God, along with the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, have influence over certain aspects of life.

The Goddess represents Love, fertility, compation, and wisdom. *

The God represents Logic, love of life, sexual passion. *

Earth influences growth, fertility, natural bounty, birth, and healing. Earth is also the Guardian to the North. *

Air influences intellect, communication, knowledge, and concentration. Air is also the Guardian to the East. *

Fire influences purification, courage, creativity, and refinement. Fire is also the Guardian to the South. *

Water influences intuition, emotion, sympathy, love, and reflection. Water is also the Guardian to the West. *

* The qualities given are just a few for general purposes.
