Chapter VIII.

Proudhawk walked into Sickbay, and said, "Bones, I'd like to speak to you about Heather."

"Sure, what would you like to know, as if you didn't know Heather's condition already."

"I can determine to a certain extent how she is, but I'd like to hear what you found out."

"As far as I could tell, which is pretty damn far, she's exactly the same person she was this morning, maybe a little worse for wear, but that's all."

"That person, didn't hurt her, but he broke the bond for a second." Proudhawk mentioned as he hopped onto an examination table.

"If you mean, Lt. Christenson by that person, if he did so, I detected no difference that caused any harm other than possibly being emotionally disturbed by it. Which you seem to be." McCoy said. "And get off my table."

"I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about Heather." Proudhawk said, getting off the table.

"I told you my medical diagnosis of Heather. I can not give you any more information than that. I'm sorry, but I'm not a mind reader."

"Very funny. Right now, Heather is not allowing me to read her mind. I thought maybe you may have noticed something in her behavior when you examined her."

"The only thing that I noticed in her behavior, is that she is as arrogant as all hell, no thanks to you, and your damn tricks! But, as to what you're mentioning, I did not notice anything."

"What do you mean, 'tricks'?"

"I told her to shut up and relax, and she pulled some bio-feedback crap on me and claimed she was just trying to lower her blood pressure, when she actually dropped her vitals, all her vitals, down to almost critical."

"She what?! I taught her to how to do bio-feedback, but she knows how dangerous it is to play with something like what she pulled on you. What you just described, is something she wouldn't normally do."

"Well, maybe you should teach her new tricks. All I know is that her psychological makeup is still the same, so we can't really blame Lt. Christenson for her trying to pull that stunt. Who knows? Maybe you're teaching her to be impulsive, too."

"I don't think she is becoming impulsive, what other explanation can you offer?"

"Maybe it was her way of releasing some pent-up tension inside of her. We'll never really know until we ask her."

"I intend to do just that." Proudhawk said, as he walked out of Sickbay.
