Introducing a new wave of Questware: Quest SST - Dragonfly, for Microsoft's Flight Simulator! When will it be available? Where can you get it? Soon, we'll have the answers. Until then...
Quest on!
"Quest Dragonfly III inspired by Hanna-Barbara animated series' of the 1960's and 1990's is my interpretation of the Quest SST. The Dragonfly II was shot down in the episode "General Winter" (JQ:TRA - (C) 1996), hence my version of Dragonfly III.
"The Dragonfly III is capable of Mach 2.92 (~2200 mph) at altitudes of 50,000-65,000 feet. Test flights continue.
"Overall performance characteristics and dimensions are guesses based on the animated series'. Basic performance is that of a 727 under 10,000 feet; over 10,000 feet the Dragonfly can go supersonic.
"Special Features: Short takeoff and landing characteristics; landing gear up/down; strobes, navigation lights, landing lights on/off; special thrust reverser controlled by spoiler ("/") key; cargo ramp lowers when engines are off; jet exhaust lights up when engines are running.
"System Requirements: IBM compatible Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.** AND Flight Simulator Flight Shop. *.AFX file will be included for modification for FS95 or FS98.
"This is a work in progress, and the plane pictured needs many more details; I hope to add a cockpit which does not 'disappear' when viewing side or aft, as so many FS5 planes do.
"This is a labor of love and honor to Doug Wildey and Hanna-Barbara, who, in their own way by the original Jonny Quest series, provided me with characters (albethey animated) in Jonny, Hadji, Race, Benton, and, yes, even Bandit, who got me even more interested in the Sciences and Flight than I already was. As such, I charge no fees nor recieve payment of any kind. "Watch this website for updates and availability of the Quest Dragonfly III - hopefully in the first half of 1999.
"Thank you Doug Wildey; thank you Hanna-Barbara Studios; and special thanks to my parents and all my other mentors for all the encouragement. "With Imagination, Nothing Is Impossible!"
~John
