They aren't really bad, but she said I should tell ya'll!
"Hey!" Jessie cried. Jeremy dragged Jessie over to their destination, the time travel device across the room. "Why are you in such a hurry!?" she demanded. "Because I just ran into you!" "Huh?" "I saw you...walking down the hall. I figured you were going somewhere to get something or...I don't know. But then I come in here and here you are...that means there are two of you...or us, running around here!" She stared at him briefly, trying to comprehend, "So we still went back, and both...all four of us ended up in the same timeline?" "That would be my guess...we need to get out of here before they find us, or we find them." "Why, what would happen then?" "I don't know, but I don't want to find out either, let's go!" he urged her. They climbed in and Jessie called out, "Hit it, Hadji." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Jessie sat up to find herself on the ground outside of the Quest Compound. Beside her, Jeremy was rubbing his head. "Remind me to wear a helmet next time," he mumbled. "Are we there?" Jessie glanced around her. "One way to find out, we're gonna have to look around," Jeremy deducted. He stood and helped her up and they headed inside. "Where would Jonny be?" Jessie shrugged, "I don't even know what day it is, how should I know the time close enough to tell where he might be?" "I guess we'll just have to look for him, then, won't we?" Jessie nodded and started down a hallway. The compound was just as she remembered it; at least after she and Jonny had remodeled it after Dr. Quest died. Jonny had decided they should move back to Maine and live there. Jessie hadn't minded; she'd never felt comfortable in any of the other places she and Jonny had lived, no matter how nice. The Quest Compound would always be home. They made their way to the laboratory where most of their scientific discoveries and creations took place. There were a few of the scientists that worked with them, but no Jonny. They headed back down the hall. She stopped outside of the door to she and Jonny's bedroom and opened it quietly. Jonny was sitting in front of the computer counsil against the far wall. "I know, Jess, but I miss you," he said. {Well, I'll be back tomorrow, can you wait that long?} her voice came from the speaker. "I suppose. I need to get back to work, I'll see you tomorrow." {Okay...I love you.} "Yeah, see you tomorrow," he turned off the screen and clutched his arms around his chest. He clenched his teeth and breathed deeply, he was obviously in pain. His head leaned back and she could see him wince. Jessie closed the door, not wanting to watch him suffer"Let's leave this in the lab and get out of here." "We can't do anything with all of those science geeks that are in there, we'll have to wait until tonight," Jeremy told her. Jessie reluctantly agreed with him. "You look tired, maybe you should get some sleep," he suggested. "Yeah, I could just go hop nto my bed and take a nap," she nodded toward the room next to her. "You could rest down where the time machine is, no one will find you down there. You need to rest, Jess, yer gonna be dead on yer feet if you don't." "Alright, I guess we can't just stand *here* for the rest of the day," she said reluctantly. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Jeremy left Jessie as soon as he was sure she was asleep. He left the compound and took Jessie's car using the keys he'd found in her pocket. *Good thing she hasn't changed vehicles,* he'd thought as he'd started it. It was also good that she'd brought her code key for all of the doors so he could get *into* the garage. Once he was off of Quest property, he headed for his place. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "Hey, Sleeping Beauty, it's night time," Jeremy shook Jessie gently as he spoke. "Hmm...already?" "You've been asleep for eight hours," he declared. "Woa, feels more like eight minutes," Jessie stretched and stood up, "didn't you sleep at all?" "Nah, I wasn't tired. You ready to go?" "Yeah, I guess." They made their way to the laboratory without any problems, Jessie slipped the vile into one of the many test-tube holders and turned to go. She stopped and stared in dismay at the gun barrel aimed at her head...and then at the person holding the gun. She pursed her lips and exhaled deeply, "What are you doing? As if I need to ask." Jeremy could tell that she was afraid, even if she didn't show it blatantly, "I'm sorry, Jess, I have to." "Cut the crap Jeremy, if yer gonna do it, do it!" she cried. "You don't understand! I don't have a choice! We have to die!" Jessie frowned, "'We' have to die?" "Yes, both of us. We did what we came to do, and it worked, or we would've gone back by now. We can't go back or there will be two of each of us in the same place." Jessie's face showed her understanding, "Not here." "Huh?" "We can't do it here...we'd be found and then all Hell would break loose. We have to go where no one will find us." He lowered the gun and nodded slightly, "Let's get out of here." "In a minute, I have something I need to do," Jessie told him, "I'll meet you out front." "Okay, but hurry." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Jessie entered the bedroom quietly, kneeling next to the bed. She brushed a stray lock of hair from Jonny's forehead and smiled. "You take care. I love you, more than you'll ever know," she kissed him, "good-bye, Jonny." She left her husband and headed for the front door. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Jessica Quest and Jeremy Surd were never found dead at the bottom of the river that ran through the canyon nearly a hundred miles from the Quest Compound. Because, technically, they never died....
Okay, it kind of jumps around a lot, but there was really nothing important (that I wanted to give away) in any of the gaps, so don't worry! Comments are, as always, more than welcome!
