It is the year 2311, eighteen years after the last voyage of the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. The provisions of the Khittomer Accord are still fresh in the minds of Federation citizens. An uneasy peace exists. The Klingon Neutral Zone has been abolished. Excelsior Class starships are the workhorses of today's Starfleet. But for the officers of the Third Fleet, there is much work to be done.
Romulan
activity has increased here over the last three years.
The First
Confederacy has made it clear that they intend to infiltrate and take over Starfleet.
These are
the continuing adventures of Starships of the Third Fleet.
Starships of the Third Fleet is a writers' club. Each member creates a persona for
themselves, and after a short training mission aboard USS Potempkin is assigned to
one of the Ships of the Fleet.
Monthly communication is maintained between ship captains and their crews either through snail mail or email. Each crew member is required to communicate monthly with their Captain, and each Captain is required to communicate monthly with each member of their crew.
Mission prologues are
sent out by the Captain of the ship three times each year. Each crew member will then
respond with S&O's (speculations and opinions) in their next monthly communication.
Each mission lasts approximately three months and members submit their own conclusion to
the mission in written format to Third Fleet Headquarters.
Missions are then compiled into a booklet and sent to each contributing member.
Members receive the quarterly newsletter The Third Dimension, which
includes mission status updates for all ships in the Third Fleet, as well as information
about many aspects of Third Fleet and the Star Trek universe and timeline in which we
exist.
Degrees are also available through Third Fleet Academy, which can translate into rank promotions.
If you enjoy Star Trek and like to write, why
not put yourself right into the action by becoming a member of
Starships of the Third Fleet?
