The Kznti Campaign

The year 2250, finds the now Lieutenant Thomas Andrews serving
 as assistant intelligence officer aboard the Tipokay
 class cruiser Bellatrix, flagship of a combat flotilla with
 another cruiser and three Miranda class destroyers.
 This group was in full combat readiness near Kznti territory
 in prevention of a new attack of this dangerous
 stellar empire that during the late 60's had caused the
 destruction of hundreds of Federation ships and all information
 led to believe that a new attack was eminent, even though
 all reports showed them as "not technologically dangerous".
 As time passed though, it became apparent that some radical
 sectors in the Kznti's ruling classes were indeed gathering
 weapons and ships in an unknown location. The heavy cruiser
 was at a loss, not knowing where or how to attack.

Andrews, an avid reader, broke the enemy secret code by relating
 it with several literary master pieces and following that,
 the entire network of armament warehouses was discovered
 and for six months the combat fleet, led by the then Commodore
 Nebogachev obliterated all the Kznti rebel war machine.
 Orbital bombardment with torpedoes granted the destruction
 of 22 major shipyards and factories and at the spring of 2251,
 reinforcements arrived that allowed for the Federation to
 have a direct confrontation. This happened near the NFS - 300 star
 system, when the war party was ambushed by twenty enemy cruisers.

In the ensuing battle, the starships outnumbered 2/1, were
 having a hard time until the Bellatrix's intelligence
 department deciphered the adversary's tactical systems
 and made a turnover. In the end of the two days of combat,
 the Federation had lost two frigates plus two severely damaged
 cruisers while the Kzin had lost 7 starships and another
 five captured. For another three months, the Bellatrix tracked down
 three other rebel ships inside UFP territory and
 destroyed them, thus obliterating the core of the rebellion.
 The end of the 2 years offensive missions in Kznti territory
 was not the end of the Irishman's tour of duty,
 since until the Fall of 2251, the old cruiser patrolled the area,
 in mostly uneventful missions after which it went back to
 Earth space to be deactivated and placed under Star Fleet Reserve,
 thus ending more than half a century of front line duty,
 even that in low priority missions. In all its service career,
 the Bellatrix had gathered 29 battle honors, 14 first contacts,
 and participated in more than one hundred combat missions.
