I. Questions about the episode "Methos":
1) When we first see Methos (the man) how man cans of beer are sitting
at his feet?
2) Which apartment is Methos in?
3) What book is MacLeod reading when Methos attacks him under the bridge?
II. What errors of historical fact were committed in the fb's of Double Jeopardy, The Cross of St. Antoine, and Through a Glass Darkly/Take Back the Night (same error).
III. Here's a list of a few of the Watchers who
appeared in the series. Name the Immortal each one officially watched,
plus the relevant episode.
Dan Geiger
Rita Luce
Andrea Henson
Ian Bancroft
David Shapiro
Roger Harris
Amy Thomas
Nathan Stern
IV. Name the episodes where an event or quickening took place in a train tunnel.
V. We all know that Connor MacLeod won The Prize (three times!). In the series, The Prize is only mentioned once. Who said it, in which episode.
VI. We all know that Duncan's preferred weapon of choice is the sword or his lethal martial arts moves. EXCLUDING flashbacks, name at least four episodes where Duncan used or brandished a gun. Remember...this is in the present time only...no flashbacks.
VII. We've heard lines or phrases repeated through the series and some just really stick out. One of those that stick in my mind is Showtime! or variations thereof. Can you name the eps and who said it? There are at least 3.
VIII. The grave markers, tombstones, crypt plaques
& so on (& there were *lots* of variations on this theme) were
mostly quite basic. Usually, the deceased was memorialized w/ just
a name, maybe w/ dates, such as the simple elegance of Tessa's Paris grave
marker. But several, for whatever reasons, also rated sentiments.
Here's a list of such sentiments; tell me the deceased person's name &
the relevant episode.
1. "Friend"
2. "In Loving Memory"
3. "In Loving Memory"
4. "Beloved"
5. "My Romeo"
6. "Better Than He Deserved"
7. "Beloved Husband"
IX. We've seen a lot of flashbacks over the years.
We've also seen flashbacks within flashbacks where we're already in a fb
and someone flashes back to yet another fb, kind of an imbedded fb.
Can you name the eps and the relevant fbs? And The Stone of Scone
only counts once since the whole ep
is a fb.
X. I've checked a few episodes from each season....and
I can't find Duncan MacLeod wearing a watch on his wrist...There are in
fact several episodes
where you see DM with a pocket watch. Name the episodes and how you
see it. Bonus:Name the episode and other immortals that looked at a pocket
watch.
XI. There have been several instances when a child or baby was a part of the story. Name as many as you can (name of child, episode).
XII. How many times has Methos or anyone else mentioned Methos' age (5000 years) specifically? Give who said it, more or less what was said, and the episode.
XIII. Which episode showed us the *most Immortals*? For simplicity, let's leave out To Be & Not To Be, which have the "dream/alternate universe" double characters. And include the Immortals appearing in FBs as well as those in current action, as long as the FB includes *new* material (as opposed to FBs that show up over & over again--like the Waterloo one w/ dear Darius.) Name the ep & the Immies.
XIV. Immortals have to live with the knowledge that all their human friends will die off eventually. No sorrow is greater, however, than the loss of a spouse. Name all the instances in which an Immortal has lost his/her wife or husband. Name the ep and the Immortal/spouse.
XV. Name the British writer, who has written many thriller/suspense TV shows, who went on to be a writer on a Highlander movie and wrote one episode of the series. Name the episode (and the movie, if you wish). As a Bonus…name another movie he wrote whose title character would become extremely significant to the Highlander series.
XVI. Name the actors (and which epsiode they were in) that went on to bigger, but not necessarily better roles. In most cases they *did* get better billing.
XVII. Can you name a character who was played by two different actors in two different episodes? This doesn't include "Young" Characters, like young Joe in Brother's in arms.

XIX. We all know there are *alot* of Recycled Actors...but what about Recycled locations? I've noticed one that is in the present and in a flashback. Name the episode and location.
XX. How many times have we seen the characters play
or mention any type of gambling (cards, bets, etc.)?
I. Questions about the episode "Methos":
1) When we first see Methos (the man) There are four cans of beer sitting
at his feet. He tosses one to MacLeod and saves the rest for himself.
2) Which apartment is Methos in? Okay, I admit this might not have
been a very good question. When we see the outside of Adam Pierson's apartment
there's a number three on the wall.
3) MacLeod is reading Sartre under the bridge when Methos attacks.
II. What errors of historical fact were committed
in the fb's of Double Jeopardy, The Cross of St. Antoine, and Through a
Glass Darkly/Take Back the Night (same error).
1. DJ-- In an fb dated 1806, Lieutenant MacLeod is preparing to bivouac his men on the grounds of Chateau d'Estaing when he meets Xavier and Morgan.
Error: There were no regular British troops anywhere on the Continent in 1806. Napoleon was at the height of his imperial power; Wellington (still Wellesley then) was two years away from landing a small expeditionary force in Portugal-- and it was five long and hard-fought years after that before French soil felt the march of feet belonging to soldiers of an invading British Army.
2.TCoSA-- in the FB dated 1817, Snake River, Montana is depicted as the location of a thriving community complete with homes, businesses, a church, and a school-in-planning.
Error: Similar to DJ; not there, not then. In 1817 the
Snake River country belonged to the wind, the sky, and the Nez Perce. The
furthest western American settlement of any measurable size at that time
was probably Ft. Osage (now Sibley), Missouri. Beyond that, there
weren't more than 250 white men scattered across the great plains and the
Rockies, and they were wandering loners -- trappers, traders, and adventurers.
There were apparently no white women at all; in 1819 the wife of
St. Louis fur baron Manuel Lisa accompanied him on a tour of his trading
posts-- an adventure that took her as far as present day Omaha, Nebraska;
that was the first recorded instance of a white woman crossing the plains.
Another couple of decades had to pass before there was the remotest
likelihood of a community like the one depicted in the fb.
3. Through a Glass Darkly; Take Back the Night: In fb's from both of these episodes, Prince Charles Edward Stewart's conversations with DM are flavored with a decided Scots burr.
Error: the burr. The Young Pretender was raised in France and
Italy in the court of his exiled father. Fluent in the tongues of both
of those countries, he did not have the same facility with English.
While it's true that when he did speak English it was strongly accented,
the accent was French, that being his first language. He might have heard
some broad Scots or Gaelic from other exiles in his father's court (though
they most likely spoke French, too) but he spoke neither and wasn't interested
in learning. He didn't want to be Scottish; he wanted to be king.
III. Here's a list of a few of the Watchers who
appeared in the series. Name the Immortal each one officially watched,
plus the relevant episode.
Dan Geiger--AMANDA IN METHUSELAH'S GIFT
Rita Luce--MICHAEL CHRISTIAN IN THEY ALSO SERVE
Andrea Henson--SIMON KILLIAN IN THE COLONEL
Ian Bancroft--MAY-LING SHEN IN THEY ALSO SERVE (where it was mentioned
he'd also watched Darius until his death)
David Shapiro--DUNCAN MACLEOD IN JUDGMENT DAY
Roger Harris--KALAS IN METHOS
Amy Thomas--MORGAN WALKER IN INDISCRETIONS
Nathan Stern--AMANDA IN METHUSELAH'S GIFT (after Geiger screwed up,
& it was also mentioned in that ep that Stern had watched Luther until
his death)
IV. Name the episodes where an event or quickening
took place in a train tunnel.
1. Saving Grace - Carlos Sendaro was beheaded by a train after fighting
with DM, with DM getting the quickening
2. Blackmail - Lymon Kurlow killed the attorney Waverly with his scarf.
3. The Innocent - Mickey beheaded himself as a train came through,
w/ Richie getting the quickening.
4. To Be and Not to Be - various things...
Also: Train yard stuff...
1. Methuselah's Gift - Amanda and Methos meeting, then fighting, then
making up.
2. The Cross of St. Antoine - DM fought and beheaded Durgan/Thorne
by a train in some sort of station.
3. The Innocent - DM beheaded Tyler King on a train engine and took
the quickening in some form of shed.
4. One Minute to Midnight - Jakob Galoti is shown walking along railroad
tracks to his trailer.
V. We all know that Connor MacLeod won The Prize (three
times!). In the series, The Prize is only mentioned once. Who
said it, in which episode.
Grayson in Band of Brothers asked DM to come work for him for "not long,
only a century or two." DM answered "With The Gathering close at
hand, what makes you think any of us have a century?" Grayson answered,
"Ah, well then you and I will fight it out for the Ultimate Prize."
VI. We all know that Duncan's preferred weapon of
choice is the sword or his lethal martial arts moves. EXCLUDING flashbacks,
name at least four episodes where Duncan used or brandished a gun. Remember...this
is in the present time only...no flashbacks.
1. One Minute to Midnite - Pulls gun on Shapiro at the Watcher's HQ.
2. Methuselah's Gift - uses a shotgun on the bridge.
3. Promises - can't make himself shoot Hamad with it.
4. The Watchers - Grabs Horton's gun and almost shoots him in front
of his daughter and Joe.
5. No Where to Run - uses an automatic against the mercenaries and
to rescue Allan and Mark Rothwood.
6. Epitaph For Tommy - takes Tommy's 9mm out of the bag and points
it at Gallen, right before he hands it over to Richie and tells him to
leave.
7. Revenge of the Sword - took Johnny Leong's gun from him & shot
the vase.
8. Ransom of Richard Redstone - holds a gun on casino owner, Carlo
Capodimonte, before he *lets* him grab it.
9. The Valkyrie - disarmed Ingrid early on in the hall, then she twisted
around & made it look like he was brandishing it at her.
10. Unusual Suspects - DM held & probably used a shotgun in the
grouse hunt
11. Armageddon - in the Ahriman trance-thing, a gun appeared in DM's
hand, which he then tossed to the ground.
VII. We've heard lines or phrases repeated through
the series and some just really stick out. One of those that stick
in my mind is Showtime! or variations thereof. Can you name the eps
and who said it? There are at least 3.
1. The Lady and the Tiger - Duncan to himself & the clown "It's
showtime!" (scene where DM is on horseback at the circus)
2. Line of Fire - Father Matthew to RR & DM "Showtime. I'll
see you guys in church. Yes?"
3. Til Death, Robert de Valicourt & Methos to each other "Showtime!"
(scene where they're putting on the show for Gina)
VIII. The grave markers, tombstones, crypt plaques
& so on (& there were *lots* of variations on this theme) were
mostly quite basic. Usually, the deceased was memorialized w/ just
a name, maybe w/ dates, such as the simple elegance of Tessa's Paris grave
marker. But several, for whatever reasons, also rated sentiments.
Here's a list of such sentiments; tell me the deceased person's name &
the relevant episode.
1. "Friend"--Richie Ryan, Avatar
2. "In Loving Memory"--Michelle Webster, Rite of Passage
3. "In Loving Memory" (yes, there were *2* such markers)--Carter Wellan,
End of Innocence
4. "Beloved"--Alexa Bond, Through a Glass Darkly
5. "My Romeo"--Hugh Fitzcairn, Unusual Suspects
6. "Better Than He Deserved"--Melvin Koren (AKA Kronos), Comes a Horseman
7. "Beloved Husband"--Alec Hill, Haunted
IX. We've seen a lot of flashbacks over the years.
We've also seen flashbacks within flashbacks where we're already in a fb
and someone flashes back to yet another fb, kind of an imbedded fb.
Can you name the eps and the relevant fbs? And The Stone of Scone
only counts once since the whole ep
is a fb.
1. Obsession: fb to Sarah Carter --> fb to Little Deer's funeral
2. Methos: fb to Paris 1920 meeting Kalas as Antonio Neri -->
fb to 1658 Kalas in Brother Paul's monastery
3. Testimony: fb to 1750 Russia meeting Kristov for the first time
--> fb to earlier that day when DM unhorsed the Cossack
4. Samurai: fb to 1780 Outer Mongolia with May-Ling Shen -->
fb to 1778 Japan when Hideo Koto gave DM the katana
5. Duende: fb to 1853 Madrid DM went back to see Theresa and
was told she was dead --> fb to 1852 when Consone pushed Theresa down the
stairs
X. I've checked a few episodes from each season....and
I can't find Duncan MacLeod wearing a watch on his wrist...There are in
fact several episodes
where you see DM with a pocket watch. Name the episodes and how you
see it. Bonus:Name the episode and other immortals that looked at a pocket
watch.
Okay...so I was off on DM not have a wrist watch. In "The Ransom of Richard Redstone" Duncan MacLeod is indeed wearing a watch in the FB. Later you see it laying on the table in the hotel room, when Carlo Capodimonte comes in and steals Desiree's money and DM's watch. In the present...DM and Richie go see Capodimonte to get the chateau back and as part of the deal..the watch..which DM puts on. MacWestie pointed out it was more of a plot device than anything else.
Episodes where you see DM with a pocket watch.....
1. Mountain Men--DM looks at it when Richie tells him that Tessa should
have been back from the mountains already.
2. Eyewitness--DM pulls it out and uses it to keep time with
the bomb when he finds it on the side of the house Tessa is in under police
protection.
3. Rite of Passage--In the FB you see Duncan glance at his watch walking
through the crowd, and swings it back into his vest pocket as the girl
(his date) is singing. Also looks at his watch when he tells the
Immortal Sharon that there is a boat to London at 3 o'clock and he can
get her on it.
4. Courage--Is looking at watch at the hospital when meets up with
Anne and it is peaking out of his vest pocket in the FB when Zolton Laslow
challenges Brian Cullen to fight.
5. Finale Pt. 1--Is looking at Hamza El Kahir's watch and puts it in
box.
6. Leader of the Pack--He checked his watch at the end of the class
he was teaching.
Other Immortals:
1. Finale Pt. 1-- FB Hamza El Kahir looks at it and tell's DM it is
only 9 in the morning.
2. Money No Object--Corey Raines looks at it when he threatens to blow
everyone up..including himself.
XI. There have been several instances when a child
or baby was a part of the story. Name as many as you can (name of
child, episode).
1. Devareaux's adopted child, killed by Felicia (Free Fall FB)
2. Belinda (A Bad Day In Building A)
3. Melinda, Nikki's daughter (The Sea Witch)
4. newborn child (Saving Grace FB)
5. the small boy Duncan rescued from the burning building (Studies
in Light)
6. the boy Tommy that Gregor is unable to save (Studies in Light FB)
7. Avery Hoskin's baby, Jamie (Bless the Child)
8. Jeremy, Donna's son (Line of Fire)
9. Kahani, Duncan's adopted Lakota son (Line of Fire)
10. Kenny, although of course he really shouldn't count - but I guess
he was a boy in the FB (The Lamb)
11. the little girl hurt in the bus accident that Anne cared for (Courage)
12. Sean, the immortal drummer boy Duncan failed to save (The Lamb
FB)
13. the children in Cambodia (Blind Faith)
14. Paolo (Take Back the Night)
15. Bernard as a child (Mortal Sins FB)
16. Mary Lindsey (Mortal Sins - prenatal, The Blitz)
17. the boy Richie carries out (The Blitz)
18. Kagan as a child in FB (Reasonable Doubt)
19. Dog lady's son (Leader of the Pack)
20. David Markum's kids, Lisa and Maureen (Reluctant Heroes)
21. Young Duncan (Prophecy)
22. Robert MacLeod (Prophecy FB)
23. Richard Dunbar's son Michael (Forgive Us Our Trespasses)
24. Young Max Leiner (Sins of the Father)
25. Katya's adopted daughter Elena (Justice FB)
26. Elena's daughter, Mia Baptista(Justice)
27. Tessa's two children (Not To Be)
XII. How many times has Methos or anyone else mentioned
Methos' age (5000 years) specifically? Give who said it, more or
less what was said, and the episode.
1. ‘Methos' – After just meeting, on their walk, Duncan asks the rhetorical
question: "5,000 years?" Methos answers: "Give or take. And that was when
I took my first head, remember. Before that, it all starts to blur."
2. ‘Chivalry' – Twice: once in the loft when DM asks: ""So, what brings
the five thousand year old man to me?" and the face-painting scene when
Methos says to Duncan: "I didn't last five thousand years by worrying about
anyone but myself."
4. Finale Pt 1 - It took you 5,000 year to figure that out?!
Methos:Disappointed in me, huh?
5. ‘Finale Pt 2' – Methos talking to Joe as they leave Watcher HQ:
"I've got a lot to offer. Five thousand years of history, Joe. I was there."
6. ‘Till Death' – Methos talking to DM on the barge: "Great. So I lose
my head after 5,000 years, so that you can play marriage guidance counselor.
I must have been out of my mind!"
7. ‘The Messenger' – When Richie finds out Adam Pierson is the real
Methos, he says: "Joe, help me out here. I mean, 5,000 years of wisdom?
Him?" Joe answers, "I don't know about the wisdom, but yeah, 5,000 is about
right."
8. ‘Judgement Day' – The guard at the Watcher HQ tells "Adam" that
the Methos project has been around for 5,000 years…a few more days won't
make a difference.
9. ‘One Minute to Midnight' – Methos to Joe: "I'm 5,000 years old.
I don't know who I am anymore. I just helped set up one of my own."
10. ‘Deliverance' – Methos to Evil DM: "I've known a lot of us in five
thousand years, MacLeod. Of them all, you were the best I'd seen."
11. ‘To Be' - Methos to Duncan: "I've only been around for 5000 years;
what would I know about it?"
XIII. Which episode showed us the *most Immortals*?
For simplicity, let's leave out To Be & Not To Be, which have the "dream/alternate
universe" double characters. Include even unnamed Immortals as long
as they actually appear onscreen & aren't just mentioned in dialogue.
And include the Immortals appearing in FBs as well as those in current
action, as long as the FB includes *new* material (as opposed to FBs that
show up over & over again--like the Waterloo one w/ dear Darius.)
Name the ep & the Immies.
There are many episodes w/ 5 or 6 Immies, but Finale 1 had 7 Immies--DM,
Amanda, Methos, Kalas, Hamza el Kahir, Xavier St. Cloud & the unnamed
Immie Kalas BHd in the street in front of the gaping Nino. But several
of you mentioned Till Death--in addition to DM, Methos, Fitz, Gina &
Robert de Valicourt, there appear to have been several unnamed Immies (as
well as Sean Burns) attending the 2 weddings shown in FB. I think
this is made clear only in the Euroversion (which I haven't seen), possibly
by a loud comment on immortality which implies all w/in earshot are Immortals;
a hint of this shows up in the tiny clip of Sean Burns from one of Till
Death's euro scenes that's used in Forgive Us Our Trespasses. So,
Till Death likely takes the cake in this category. (Wedding cake,
of course!)
XIV. Immortals have to live with the knowledge that
all their human friends will die off eventually. No sorrow is greater,
however, than the loss of a spouse. Name all the instances in which
an Immortal has lost his/her wife or husband. Name the ep and the
Immortal/spouse.
Well, I got LOTS of answers to this one. I was going for people who were formally married (not common-law, like Duncan and Tessa), and for Immortals who lost, but didn't kill, their spouses.
1. "Free Fall", Felicia killed Devereaux's wife.
2. "Mountain Men", Caleb evidentally lost his wife to some doctors.
3. "Saving Grace", Grace lost her husband.
4. "Nowhere to Run", Bellian had lost his wife sometime ago.
5. "An Eye for An Eye", Annie lost two men (not really sure if she
was married, though)
6. "Pharaoh's Daughter", Constantine's wife was killed by Nefertiri.
7. "The Lamb", Kenny killed Ross' wife (not shown).
8. "Take Back the Night", Ceirdwyn lost her hubby.
9. "Till Death", Methos mentions he's been married 68 times, so we
can only assume he's lost a few.
10. "One Minute to Midnite", Jakob loses Irena to Horton's blade.
11. "Haunted", Alex loses Genevieve.
12. "The Messenger", Culbraith loses his family in fb.
13. "Sins of the Father", Alex Raven loses David? (don't know
if married)
14. "Diplomatic Immunity", Willy loses Molly.
15. "To Be", O'Rourke loses his wife in prison.
Also, Connor and Ramirez both lost spouses in the movies.
XV. Name the British writer, who has written many
thriller/suspense TV shows, who went on to be a writer on a Highlander
movie and wrote one episode of the series. Name the episode (and the movie,
if you wish). As a Bonus…name another movie he wrote whose title character
would become extremely significant to the Highlander series.
His name is Brian Clemens. A wonderful writer who was on the writing
team for the Highlander 2 movie and went on to write 'See No Evil' (which
by the way...is one of the worst HL epsiodes ever, but he IS a great writer....honest!)
Bonus: He also wrote, produced and directed the movie 'Captain Kronos -
Vampire Hunter" in 1974, which was later released as "Kronos".
XVI. Name the actors (and which epsiode they were
in) that went on to bigger, but not necessarily better roles. In most cases
they *did* get better billing.
There were a lot of repeats in the answers I got, plus many that weren't on my list…so this is a compilation of ALL answers. I think that this list might be a handy one to have…so if you notice anyone missing, please send the info on to me, anytime. If there are any late additions…I'll send everybody an updated version. XVII. Can you name a character who was played by
two different actors in two different episodes? This doesn't include "Young"
Characters, like young Joe in Brother's in arms.
The one I was looking for was Bonnie Prince Charlie, who was played
by Benjamin Pullen in 'Take back the night' and by Struan Rodger in 'Through
a glass darkly'. A couple of you mentioned Little deer, who was played
by Michelle Thrush in 'Line of fire' and by someone else in 'The Gathering',
although we didn't see much of her in that episode. Some of you also pointed
out that Ahriman was played by several different actors as well as The
character of Lisa (played by Meilani Paul and AV) I didn't really count
these because, like the 'young' actors, the character was supposed to have
a completely look. In other words, the different actor was a plot device.
Finally, I think someone (Rissa?) also mentioned that Mike, Joe's bartender
was also played by two different actors.
XVIII. After watching Highlander for so long,
I've noticed that the name Mike seems to be the most common one on the
show. Name all of the characters with the name Mike or variations of it.
1. Michael "The Scalper" from 'see no evil'. I haven't seen this since
1992, so I'm going by what they had in the book.
2. Eye For an Eye, Mick (Annie Devlin's henchman)
3. Michael Kent from 'the Samurai'.
4. Michel in 'Unholy Alliance, part I' (Another one I don't have on
tape. I can't remember how it's pronounced)
5. Mike Lundy in 'The Revolutionary', 'Rite of Passage', 'blind faith'
and 'The Blitz' (I'm not sure, but I think this might be a recycled actor
case. I know he played Mike the Paramedic in 'the Blitz' and Rissa has
him listed as Mike the bartender for the other three. Well, I just bought
a VCR, so now I have my own where I can spend hours properly researching
these things.)
6. Michelle Webster in 'Rite of passage'
7. Mike Barrett in 'Courage' and 'they also serve'
8. Michael Christian in 'they also serve'
9. Mikey in 'The innocent' (sniff)
10. Mikel in 'One minute to midnight'
11. Mike Paladini 'in The Modern Prometheus'
XIX. We all know there are *alot* of Recycled Actors...but
what about Recycled locations? I've noticed one that is in the present
and in a flashback. Name the episode and location.
1. The *one* I was looking for was from 'Mountain Men' and 'The Cross
of St. Antione' Present day in 'Mountain Men' where Duncan fights
Caleb Cole...is the same in the FB of 'The Cross of St. Antione' where
the priest baptises the people.
2. The Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver was used in the fb in See
No Evil when DM took Marcus Korolus' head. It was also used in Song
of the Executioner for Brother Paul's concert as well as the fight between
DM and Kalas. It was also used in the Rite of Passage fb masquerading
as the hotel where Sharon tried to set DM up for Axel Whittaker.
3. The Dr. Sun Yat Sen Gardens was used as Asian holy ground in Road
Not Taken when DM first saw Keim Sun, in Revenge of the Sword as Johnny
Leong's place, and in Timeless as the monastery where DM & Walter fought
over Claudia.
XX. How many times have we seen the characters play
or mention any type of gambling (cards, bets, etc.)?
