June's Sacred Site:

Callanish Stone Circle, Isle of Lewis, Scotland

Part of a sprawling complex of numerous, subtly-aligned sites on the remote Hebridean Isle of Lewis, the main circle and avenue at Callanish is breathtaking in its size and degree of integrity. Local archaeologist Margaret Curtis has spent much of her adult life explicating the complex lunar alignments of the various Callanish sites, as well as protecting the stones from uncaring farmers.
