Snowdonia, Wales

Centered on the highest peak in Wales, Snowdonia has long been the spiritual heart of the Welsh nation, its peaks and passes providing a natural fortress and refuge for defenders of independence from England. As a youth, Merlin was reputed to have revealed beneath Snowdon two warring dragons, one white, one red--one of the most enduring legends of Wales.
