Wiccans, Witches & Pagans...Oh My!
What is being a teenage Witch like?

With more teens discovering Wicca, more and more concerns and issues are cropping up. Parents a worried that their kid will get into the wrong stuff. Teens are worried that maybe someone will find out they're Wiccan, and ruin their reputation. Or that your friend won't accept who you are, and the path that you've chosen.
Wicca is on the rise, and with it, so is discrimination and false information about this earth loving religion. This page will hopefully help those teens who are lost or confused, or just don't know where they are going. Maybe it will even help some of those parents out there understand that your kid has a right to discover they're own path and own religion, and that you are pretty lucky if your child chooses Wicca, instead of some suicidal cult.

What is Wicca?

There are numerous pages that tell you this, not the least of which is the very best The Witches Voice, a great page with a fabulous teenage section.
Wicca is different for all who practice it. I, personally, like to call myself an Eclectic Witch, which I liked because it gave me the freedom to choose which aspects of Wicca and other religions I liked. Wicca is basically an Earth based religion. It follows the Wiccan Rede, the short form of which is "An ye harm none, do what ye will". Some believe in the Three Fold Law, which states that whatever you do (good or bad) will some back to you three fold; so it's a good idea to do good things.
Against popular beliefs, Witches do NOT sacrifice babies, or fly on broom sticks, and they may ware pointy hats, but that's just because that particular Witch probably has bad fashion sense. Parents, you may relax, if your child tells you they are practicing true Wicca, they are into the good stuff; so support them!

How do I become a Wiccan/Witch?

What a question! Every Wiccan you ask will probably give you a different answer. I can only tell you my personal experience. I simply chose one day. My best friend (who is also a Wiccan now) told me about this religion and got me interested. I didn't jump right in, and at first I was thinking it was a Wicked Witch of the West deal, but after doing some research, and reading A LOT, I thought differently. One night, I was lying in bed, thinking of the Wiccan Rede, rolling those eight words around in my mind. I just knew in that second and I was a Witch. It wasn't a conscious choice, I didn't even really think about it...I just sat up in bed, looked at the moon through my window, and thought to myself "I was born for this".
The only answer, therefore, that I can give to this question is: you simply chose. If it's right for you, you will know.

So...What's the difference between a Witch, Wiccan & Pagan?

The one and only answer I can give is...I DON'T KNOW!!! I'm not sure any one really knows. Again, the Witches Voice did a whole essay thing on this, and you may find something there. But from my point of view, I believe that it's simply a personal opinion.
