Space Empires 2 Tactical Window

What you need to know.....

...About the tactical window

Section 1

This is the menu section. This is very important. Under File you can save, load, exit(the basic crud). Under Empire, you have the purchases menu. Here you purchase your ships...obviously this is very useful. Also you will need to create designs. See the Design Window section. You can view the designs you have from here also. Status gives you your status in this intergalactic battle for supremacy. Under ships you can change ships and give ships orders, but we like to use the buttons in Section 4. Under Info you can check on your ships, colonies, and the sector you are in. In map, you can check the galactic map to see where you are in the universe. Under Logs you can see what ships have been repaired or built and how much. Next Ship will take you to your next ship. End Turn(Guess What??) Ends your turn.

Section 2

This is the map of the system you are in. Each sector has its own discription. Each planet has its own discription. The map shows all of the ships, planets, and warp points in the system. Asteroid belts can be used for settlement modules. Magnetic storms and Hydrogen Clouds cloak your ships when inside of them.

Section 3

This is the glactic map. It shows the systems that you have explored, the systems you have ships in. And the systems your opponents have ships in. It shows the connections between systems.

Section 4

These are the control buttons. The first button is the movement button. You click what sector you want in Section 2 and click on this button. It will give you the option to move whatever ship is in that sector. The button below is used when you have selected a warp point sector and there is a ship there, it gives you the option to warp your ships through, this takes a movement point. The next set of 2 are the cargo buttons. The top one drops cargo. The bottom one takes in cargo. The next set is when you move a colonizing shiop onto a planet you click on the top button to colonize it. The button below gives you the option to halt whatever ships you have selected. The next set's top button scraps whatever ships you have selected. Scraping destroyes the ship, but you get approximately 20% of your money back. The button below is for the full version. The next 2 sets are for the full version. The last set is for giving ships orders. The top one is used when you select a ship, it will give you four options. You can tell it to move somewhere. It will move there by itself until it reaches its destination. You can clear its orders. You can tell it to hold position. Last, but not least, you can tell a colonizing ship to colonize a planet. It will go, colonize the planet. The button below that issues(carries out) the orders.
