Lady of Sorrow

by Lady Isabella O'Rourke

Dark was the road ahead, rocky and narrow
Up in the distance the fair maiden fled
And where she did lead him, the brave lad, he followed
And as he drew near her, haunted he said,

-chorus-
Turn your eyes to me,Lady of Sorrow
Think not on sadness, your tears let me dry
Though the night be long, wait for the morrow
And with the dawn, the light shines in your eyes

Slowly she turned and she beckoned him nearer
She bade him sit down on a rock by the stream
I'm lost to your world,she said,go back,come no further
Your life you endanger,I'm only a dream

--chorus--

Though she did warn him,the lad did not heed her
Slowly he reached for her fragile white frame
Before he could touch her,the fair maid, she vanished
And he fell to his death in the swift running stream

--chorus--

Never through forests, a phantom go chasing
Your fate you will seal in the gathering gloom
They call her the Lady of Sorrow with reason
For many a lad she has led to his doom

Turn you eyes to me Lady of Sorrow
Think not on sadness, you tears let me dry
Spectre of woe, you will ne'er see the morrow
Never again, the light shine in your eyes
