Nightbird

by Isabella O'Rourke of Namron

Downward falls the curtain of night
Black as the raven's wings
On the water falls the pale moonlight
Silver, the nightbird who sings

Through the trees hear her calling
On the wind hear her song
Catch her tears as they're falling
In your hand so strong

Crystal blue, the eyes that stare
Into the darkness ahead
Cold is the winter, bleak and bare
So from the coldness she fled

Running wild through the forest
Though by thorns she is torn
In her heart there'll be no rest
Til she's safe and warm

By the fire light, she folds her wings
Bathed in the warmth of its glow
Never more in sorrow to sing
For in her heart she now knows

When you're lost in the darkness
When you're scared and alone
Learn to look for the strength in yourself
Then you'll find you're home.
