["A star shines on the hour of our meeting" - JRR Tolkien]

Hi and welcome to my lair, online place of abode (just call me Abideth and ask questions later), webresidence… To introduce myself, my name is Teresa Rice, though it seems that in the last few years especially I’ve collected many nicknames, among which is Trice and its various derivatives (you didn’t know it had any, did you?).

Just for a bit of background, I graduated in May 2000 from Utica College of Syracuse University with a BA in Political Science (focused on international studies and human rights) and a minor in English Language/Linguistics. I did 3 years of high school and 5 of college, so I guess it all evened out in the end - and I was able to spend more time in the place that I enjoyed more and that benefitted me the most of either. (Did that make sense? The heat's frying my brain)

My newest news is that I just got a job working as the executive assistant at Syracuse Habitat for Humanity (the old website is here). I'm excited to be starting this work! Although I've already been doing volunteer work in the office for the past few months, it's good to be doing it as my job.

I also work at Waldenbooks in Shoppingtown Mall, which I've found a lot more interesting than OfficeMax, as far as retail goes. There's still the consumer culture side of the work, but I find books and associated conversations much more interesting than office supplies, I must say!

In terms of activities, I haven't been doing that much - I'm certainly not as busy... or busy in the same way as I was in college. I spend a lot of my time with a small fellowship group from my church. We started out as a Monday night Bible study and have branched out from there. Just watch out if you hear the word "mafia" in our vicinity - you might want to duck.

I spent 10 days in Chiang Mai, Thailand in January 2001 at a conference on Asian language and culture. That was an amazing experience; I felt like I grew a year's worth in that time. God is truly amazing, and He is working in the world!

I haven't fenced in over a year, so I'm an easy target. I may pick that up again in the next few months, 'cause it's simply driving me crazy not to be fencing after 5 years of regular activity. If you see me limping around, you'll know the reason - just think of the bruises that I'm sure I'll then be decorated with as battle wounds. :)

Sorry for the rather clipped and boring voice here - just thought it was time for an update.

Cheers!
Teresa
